DEPARTMENT: National Training Team

POSITION TITLE: Data Center Instructor 

REPORTS TO: Director, Tech Instruction, ITS/EUDS 

DURATION: Full- Time Job / Contract 

 

What you will do

  • Support instructor-led training that prepares students for entry-level to mid-level careers in Java Development. Responsibilities include daily instruction, assessment administration, attendance, one-on-one tutoring, daily evaluation and monitoring of individual student progress, addressing student violations with students in a consistent manner, and more
  • Provide students with access to relevant resources for outside learning on technologies and study aids relevant to the curriculum
  • Work closely with the team to identify student needs, provide the necessary support, establish individualized plans for student achievement, and participate in regular student-status meetings.
  • Maintain and update Salesforce and/or our LMS with student grades, certification, scores, and progress notes.
  • Support and maintain the training curricula, syllabi, lesson plans, and any other classroom materials. 

 

Required Skill-Sets

  • 1-3 years of teaching or training experience 
  • Strong technical background; able to grasp and convey highly technical subject matter
  • Networking LAN/WAN (OSI layers, Routing/Switching)
  • Strong foundational understanding of client/server methodologies and virtual environments. 
  • Experience with SOHO devices, IOT, portable electronics
  • Strong background in hardware support and PC architecture including BIOS, UEFI and troubleshooting
  • Hands-on experience with Windows and Linux Operating Systems 
  • Familiarity with Linux architecture
  • Linux server & desktop administration, file systems, directory structure and navigation
  • Proficiency with Linux commands
  • Familiarity with various shells: Bash, ZSH, GNOME, KSH, CSH
  • Knowledge and familiarity with troubleshooting Window servers using Process monitoring and task manager (CPU, Memory, Users)
  • Active directory and AD Services (DNS, DHCP), GPO’s, user-profile management, General Troubleshooting
  • Basic experience with Office 365 applications and Office 365 collaboration tools
  • Virtualization technologies (VMWARE, VirtualBox)
  • including connectivity, cooling and safety protocols
  • Running/terminating/testing Cat 5/5e/6 Cable
  • Patch Panel experience 



Preferred Skill-Sets

 

  • Experience as a corporate trainer or prior instructional experience
  • Operating Systems (Linux/Windows)
  • Experience with troubleshooting hardware/software ie ‘Break/Fix’ 
  • Knowledge of industry-standard cable specifications
  • Familiarity with low-voltage topology (MDF, IDF, CDF)
  • Low Voltage support and experience in a data center environment
  • Knowledge of OSHA certification and on-site safety regulations
  • Preferred: CompTIA A+ Certification
  • Ability to write content and curriculum related to instructional outcomes is a plus

 

Instructional Skill-Sets

  • Ability to respond with clarity to live digital conversations via a digital engagement platform such as Zoom.
  • Strong communication skills

 

For this role specifically, it is a contract role of $40 per hour for 8 weeks
