Job description

Natcast (short for The National Center for the Advancement of Semiconductor Technology) is a new, purposebuilt, nonprofit entity created to operate the National Semiconductor Technology Center (NSTC) consortium, established by the CHIPS Act of the U.S. government.

Data Strategy and Infrastructure Lead

In this role you will develop and implement Natcasts comprehensive data strategy, establishing frameworks to manage diverse research data streams from inhouse research, grant programs, and facilities while building the foundation for future data governance. You will also be responsible for building data pipelines for various internal and external stakeholder use cases, establishing a governance model to handle these processes, maintaining a secure data environment, curating data, and developing data repositories for future use cases.

Every day you will shape how Natcast captures, manages, and leverages critical research data, collaborating across teams to establish standards and systems that enhance the value of our semiconductor innovation initiatives.

To thrive in this role you must combine strategic data leadership with handson technical expertise, demonstrating the ability to both architect enterprise data strategies and implement practical solutions that advance research excellence.

Through the National Semiconductor Technology Center (NSTC), Natcast drives technological advancement through collaborative partnerships, cuttingedge facilities, and a commitment to maintaining U.S. leadership in semiconductor technology.

This foundational position will establish Natcasts data management approach across multiple research streams. The role combines strategic planning with technical implementation to create a scalable data infrastructure that supports both current research initiatives and future growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop comprehensive data strategy encompassing inhouse research, grant programs, and affiliated technical centers

  • Design and implement data architecture supporting diverse research workflows

  • Establish data governance frameworks and best practices

  • Create standards for research data collection, storage, and accessibility

  • Lead development of data infrastructure and management systems

  • Partner with research teams to optimize data capture and utilization

  • Build and maintain data pipelines for various internal and external stakeholder use cases.

  • Work with business lines (Research, IT, DEGSiAgg, Workforce Development) to lead efforts in establishing frameworks that streamline operational efficiencies

    • Required Skills and Experience:

      • Masters degree in Computer Science, Data Management, or related field

      • 10+ years experience in technical data management

      • Strong background in research data infrastructure

      • Experience developing enterprise data strategies

      • Excellence in stakeholder management

      • Track record of implementing data governance

      • Demonstrated technical leadership abilities

        • Preferred Skills and Experience:

          • Experience with semiconductor research data

          • Background in scientific computing environments

          • Knowledge of federal grant data requirements

          • Understanding of IP management

          • Experience with largescale research programs

          • Expertise in research data standards
