Make a Difference Where It Matters Most

At Southern Water, we’re on a mission to transform our Operational Control Centre into a centre of excellence — leading the industry in performance, efficiency, and innovation. We're looking for a Technical Trainer (Planning & Scheduling) to help us get there.

If you're passionate about developing people, shaping processes, and influencing culture — this could be your next challenge.

About the Role

As the Technical Trainer, you'll be at the heart of the development journey for our Planning and Scheduling teams. After their onboarding, you’ll take the lead in delivering targeted, technical training that supports our people to excel, solve problems, and make informed decisions in real time.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Delivering high-quality training sessions aligned to our strategy and values
  • Supporting colleagues with one-on-one and group coaching
  • Identifying knowledge gaps and implementing solutions
  • Improving technical materials and training frameworks
  • Driving consistency, quality, and continuous improvement across the team
  • Supporting control centre performance during emergency and incident situations

This is a hands-on, high-impact role that blends people development, technical training, and operational excellence.

About You

You’ll bring a mix of training experience and industry knowledge — ideally from a water, wastewater, or similarly regulated operational environment.

Essential:

  • Experience delivering training in a control centre or scheduling environment
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Confidence in coaching both individuals and groups, including creation of material

Desirable:

  • Level 3 qualification in training, coaching, or education (e.g. AET, Business Coaching)
  • Water/wastewater industry understanding
  • Knowledge of emotional intelligence, root cause analysis, or audit processes
  • Experience developing technical training materials
  • A collaborative mindset and a passion for improvement

What’s in it for You?

We offer a competitive salary and excellent benefits, including:

  • Company and performance-related bonus
  • Generous pension with up to 11% company contribution
  • 25 days annual leave + bank holidays
  • Life assurance (4x salary)
  • Hybrid working with flexibility
  • Salary sacrifice electric car scheme
  • Health benefits and wellbeing support
  • Perkbox discounts & digital GP service
  • Two paid volunteering days per year

Help Us Build a Stronger Future
