Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Computer Technician to join our Data Center Management team. This position is responsible for assembling, testing, and configuring high-performance computer servers for internal and external customers. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with computer hardware, a solid understanding of Linux systems, and foundational networking knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble computer servers and related components based on build specifications in a lab environment

  • Perform system testing, troubleshooting, and diagnostics to ensure hardware functionality and stability

  • Install and configure Linux-based operating systems (e.g., CentOS, Rocky Linux)

  • Assign and document IP addresses and patch schedule for internal systems

  • Update BIOS, firmware, and drivers as needed

  • Maintain accurate records of system configurations, test results, and issue resolutions

  • Identify and escalate hardware, configuration, and connectivity issues to engineering teams

  • Create, update, and maintain data center work order instructions for field technicians and support team

  • Collaborate with customer success and clients to gather requirements and schedule hardware deployment and maintenance

  • Work with logistics team to deliver hardware to meet deadlines

  • Report servers and parts inventory movement to finance teams accurately and timely

  • Travel to a data center in downtown St. Louis as requested

Our Ideal Candidate Has:

  • Proven experience assembling and configuring PC or server hardware

  • Proficiency with Linux command-line tools and system configuration

  • Basic understanding of networking (IP configuration, ping/traceroute, SSH, etc.)

  • Familiarity with RAID, storage configuration, and BIOS/UEFI settings

  • Ability to read and interpret build documents, wiring diagrams, and hardware manuals

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

  • Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple tasks efficiently

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a hands-on technical environment

  • Preferred Qualifications:

    • Associate degree or technical certification in Computer Science, IT, or a related field

    • Experience in a data center, lab, or OEM server assembly environment

    • Experience with automated deployment tools or scripting (e.g., Bash, Python)
