JOB OVERVIEW
Our Platform Engineers at Wheels are responsible for assisting in the development and deployment of automation solutions using tools such as Terraform, AKS and coding languages including Python and PowerShell, as well as the management of cloud-based platforms, such as Azure. The Platform Engineer will work with infrastructure as code, containerization, and modern CI/CD practices. They will also work with other members of the team to develop, implement, and maintain our internal development platform (aka DevEx)- which will be the basis for all new cloud development in the organization.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Design, build, and maintain our internal developer platform, tools, and automation solutions.
- Collaborate with our product teams, using an agile approach to improve developer experience
- Facilitate the introduction of new technologies, lowering the entry barrier and setting standards that facilitate their adoption
- Drive the development of self-service templates that create the paved path for our product teams
- Contribute to the design, implementation and maintenance of our platform products by ensuring our internal customers can successfully get value out of the full platform offering
- Support product teams with their platform requirements by establishing the right feedback loops
- Participate in support duties
- Keep up to date with technology and industry changes related to the role
LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
- This role will not have leadership responsibilities.
COMPETENCIES - SKILLS
- Professional experience in scripting language and a backend programming language like, PowerShell
- Professional experience with CI/CD tools, i.e: Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub
- Experience with developer platforms/portals is a plus
- Experience building and managing Kubernetes clusters (AKS) is a plus
- Experience with infrastructure as code is a plus, i.e Terraform
- Experience with cloud infrastructure is a plus. i.e. Azure
- Ability to plan and deliver small engineering projects
- Creative thinking and problem-solving mindset
- Ability to interact with people from across the business and build strong relationships, including the ability to influence upwards effectively
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in a related technology role
- Microsoft Azure Beginner level certification like Fundamentals
- Beginner level certifications in tooling like GitHub, Docker, DynaTrace, Kubernetes, Terraform, Kafka or equivalent technologies

Work Environment: This position is in Alpharetta, GA, Des Plaines, IL, or remote and operates in a professional office environment.
Positions Type/Standard Schedule: This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday.
Travel: No Travel required for this position.
Physical Demands: Speak, hear, and see, and to use hand and fingers for computer keyboard and phone. Sit or stand for extended periods of time. Reach above head to pull paper attachments.

Pay Range:
$95,500-$133,700
The base salary range for this position is listed above. This position is eligible to participate in the annual incentive plan which is based on company performance and individual performance. Compensation ranges are based on several factors including job function, level, and geographic location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience, education, certifications, skill level and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed here.
