Primary Function

Review and quality control residential real estate appraisals and underwrite mortgage lending collateral.

Principal Duties:

List of required duties below. Distinguish on-site duties with a *.

  • Perform Reviews of Loan Origination appraisals. Validate valuation techniques, supporting data and conclusions. Underwrite collateral in loan origination process. Communicate review results in a timely and professional manner, production consistent with team levels and goals.
  • Vendor Management - Communicate asset-level quality control issues to Valuations Team Lead and/or Manager.
  • Provide support to the Team Lead and Manager as necessary to assist in training, mentoring, reporting, etc. as needed.
  • Cross-functional Support - Assist other teams in the Underwriting group as needed. This may include sharing of market data or industry information and communicating issues or solutions. This also includes reputation management through professional behavior and courteous communications with other enterprise associates.
  • Perform other job responsibilities as assigned by management.

Education and Experience

Required education and experience.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or work experience equivalency in Real Estate, Management, Business, or Finance.
  • 5+ years of experience in valuation, including minimum 2 years field experience appraising residential properties.
  • 2 years’ experience in reviewing appraisals.
  • National / Institution review experience preferred.
  • Actively Licensed or Certified Real Estate Appraiser.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Required knowledge, skills, and ability.

  • Strong analytical and written communication skills.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Complete knowledge and understanding of the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice.
  • Complete knowledge and understanding of agency guidelines and requirements including Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA.
  • Knowledge of market theory.
  • Understanding of real estate valuation techniques.
