Job description

Overview:

WiredPeople is dedicated to advancing public health initiatives to reduce tobacco use and its associated health risks. We collaborate with stakeholders across government, healthcare, and community organizations to develop and implement effective tobacco cessation programs. We are seeking a strategic planning expert to lead and support initiatives aimed at eliminating tobacco-related disparities and improving health outcomes.  Candidates will ideally reside within Florida state lines to collaborate with onsite teams and lead initiatives at the local and state levels.

The Strategic Planning Expert for Public Health Tobacco Cessation will be responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive strategies to reduce tobacco use at the local, state, or national level. This role requires expertise in public health policy, program development, and stakeholder engagement to drive impactful change in tobacco control and cessation efforts.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance tobacco cessation programs and policies.
  • Conduct research and analysis on tobacco control trends, policies, and best practices to inform decision-making.
  • Collaborate with public health agencies, healthcare providers, advocacy groups, and policymakers to drive tobacco control initiatives.
  • Design and oversee data-driven evaluations of cessation programs to measure effectiveness and recommend improvements.
  • Identify funding opportunities and contribute to grant writing and resource mobilization efforts.
  • Provide technical assistance and training to stakeholders on evidence-based tobacco cessation strategies.
  • Advocate for policy changes that support tobacco-free environments and equitable access to cessation resources.
  • Monitor and report on the progress of strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment with public health goals and regulatory frameworks.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s or higher degree in Public Health, Health Policy, Epidemiology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in strategic planning, policy development, or program implementation in tobacco cessation or broader public health initiatives.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret public health data and translate findings into actionable strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with diverse stakeholders, including government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and healthcare providers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in grant writing and resource mobilization is a plus.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local tobacco control policies and regulations.
