Job description

Overview:

AmTrust Financial Services, a fast growing commercial insurance company, has an need for a subrogation Claims Supervisor. The successful candidate will supervise a team of Claims Adjusters.  Their supervision will include coaching and counseling, monitoring work performance to assure compliance with company standards as well as Labor Code rules and regulations, helping to refine the skills of the people in the unit, conducting performance evaluations, and instituting corrective action when appropriate.

Responsibilities:

Essential Job Functions

  • Supervise a team of Workers’ Compensation Subrogation Claims Adjusters.
  • Oversees the handling of all aspects of the claims assigned to the unit including reserving, communication, documentation, litigation management, evaluation, negotiation and settlement.
  • Ensures claim processing is consistent with applicable policies, procedures and department guidelines.
  • Maintain current status of supervisor reviews and claim oversight.
  • Manage complaints.
  • Identify and report trending that may negatively impact the clients and/or the company.
  • Collaborate with management team as necessary to facilitate team building and partnerships.
  • Provides file authority as appropriate to unit staff.
  • Completes regular quality audits of staff’s work, records results and counsels staff to bring work to or above standards.
  • Prepares regular periodic reports and monitors system reports to ensure adherence to corporate and regulatory standards.
  • Reviews and analyzes processes, procedures and workflows to identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency.
  • May recruit, hire and recommend or initiate promotions, transfers and disciplinary action.
  • Manages personnel administration including employee evaluations and disciplinary action.
  • Participate in the specialized training and handling of complex claim matters and projects requiring advanced claim knowledge and experience.
  • Manages the development and training of subordinates, and continuing education, including monitoring and relaying information to the staff regarding changes in coverage and laws.

    Process:

    Exercise exceptional process adherence to create consistent thorough claims investigations yielding the best claims and customer outcomes. Ensure regulatory compliance while maintaining excellent file quality. Provide guidance in the resolution of claims to ensure consistency and compliance. Provides appropriate authority based on authority guidelines set by Senior Claims Manager. Able to identify process improvement to increase recoveries.


    Performance:

    Leverage the use of technology and data to support the strategic vision. Ensure the team and adjusters are performing to expectation by regularly evaluating work.  Ability to be a problem solver when issues arise and identify alternative solutions to continue to drive performance and results. Takes ownership of outcomes and results delivered by team.

 

Qualifications:

Education/Experience

  • Requires a high school education with preferred college degree or a minimum 7 years of equivalent claims experience and skills, preferably in subrogation or liability.
  • Preferred Licenses and Certifications:  AINS, CSRP, CPCU, or other general insurance or liability insurance certification.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Education: BA/BS or Equivalent
  • Claims Adjuster License
  • 5 years of previous experience in leadership or supervisory experience
  • Significant knowledge liability investigations, statutes, and case law
  • Significant drive to advance techniques to maximize fraudulent claim mitigation where appropriate
  • Skilled in coverage and liability analysis and litigation strategy
  • Superior interpersonal skills as demonstrated by the ability to resolve conflict, as well as the ability to persuade, and influence
  • Personal accountability and ownership for results and a commitment to continuous improvement in processes that will enhance service, boost overall performance
