Job description

Overview:

HarperCollins is looking for a Product Manager to work on the Product Management Team in the IT Department. The primary responsibility is to manage and optimize title metadata delivery to external customers for HarperCollins business units in North America. The ideal candidate will have proven experience with ONIX (Online Information Exchange) standards related to the delivery of print and digital title metadata, accessibility information, and supply chain data out to the marketplace.

Responsibilities:
  • Engage with business stakeholders to understand program priorities and operational needs.
  • Identify and document data sourcing requirements for internal and external data teams.
  • Document and deliver transformation specifications and delivery requirements to internal and external teams working on the project.
  • Manage project delivery including stakeholder communication, progress tracking, and regular status reporting to business and IT leadership.
  • Manage the transition of data sources and processes from legacy to modernized platforms in the organization.
  • Work with business, internal analysts, and technicians to identify solutions that help drive the product roadmap.
  • Evaluate the design, selection, and implementation of database changes by comparing them with business requirements and product design documents.
  • Create written documentation per IT project standards that serve as a reference to the scope of the project, functional requirement, targeted outcome, and overall roadmap.
  • Partner with other members of the Team and the business in evaluating and recommending solutions available in the industry.
  • Stay current with ONIX standards development and participate in industry working groups.
Qualifications:
  • Strong analytical and product management skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate those needs into functional and technical requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills and the ability to interact professionally with senior managers and subject matter experts.
  • Independent and initiative-taking, capable of executing under uncertainty with multiple priorities.
  • 5-7 years as a functional analyst in Information Technology.
  • 3-5 years of related experience in media or publishing is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent project management and communication skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills for metadata analysis and reporting.
  • Knowledge of XML structure and title metadata delivery is required.
  • Experience implementing ONIX 2.1 and 3.x specifications is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in SQL, JIRA, and Confluence required.
  • Microsoft SQL Server skill (Transact SQL) is a plus.

The salary for this position is $120,000-$130,000. We recognize that attracting the best talent is key to our strategy and success as a company.
