About The Role:

In this role, you will enhance Giant Tiger's existing Workday HCM modules and simplify the end-user experience by leveraging advanced expertise to optimize system performance and stability, delivering user-centric solutions, and supporting business leaders in driving continuous improvement.

Workplace Arrangements:

This role will follow a fully remote schedule. Occasional travel to Ottawa Home Office is required on a quarterly basis.

What You’ll be Doing:
  • Handle change requests requiring medium to advanced Workday configuration knowledge in order to improve performance, simplify processes for end users and bring value to the overall Workday experience.

  • Act as owner for Workday modules such as Learning, Absence, Payroll, Time-Tracking, Security and consult with the Business leaders on continuous improvements in order to correctly build the Workday modules as desired by their administrators.

  • Complete testing and auditing of the bi-annual Workday Feature release to confirm no impact happens on existing configurations and that potential improvements are noted and communicated to the business.

  • Provide advice and basic training to Workday Tier 1 peers when needed on smaller configurations tickets in order to improve the team's response time for the day-to-day requests.

  • Utilize critical thinking skills and knowledge of Workday best practices to translate stakeholder requests into requirements, accurately understand the business needs and provide relivable solutions for payroll, time-tracking, learning, absence and security.

  • Develop test scenarios, execute tests in the assigned functional areas and conduct impact-analysis on the other functional areas in order to ensure your solutions properly function and the system is stable.

  • Draft/update job aids and present demos in trainings in order to help the end users adapt to Workday and increase their overall trust with the system.

  • Identify and regularly review key resources in Workday community to have an up-to-date knowledge of new features and relevant activities or warnings.

What You’ll Bring:
  • Bachelors Degree (Business Technology, Human Resources) or equivalent experience.

  • Strong understanding of Workday capabilities and touchpoints between functional areas.

  • 3+ years experience in at least 3 of the following Workday functional areas: Recruiting, Absence, Reporting (advanced), Security (advanced).

  • 2+ Experience in the following Workday areas: Payroll, Time-Tracking, Learning.

  • Background in working in an HR environment and knowledge of HR processes and policies.

  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills, system mindset, testing best practices and impact analysis.

  • Ability to apply concepts learned to other areas.

  • Strong communication with ability to articulate guidance, concerns and influence others.

  • Strong knowledge of MS Office suite including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Assets You May Have:
  • Previous retail experience is an asset.

  • Bilingual is a strong asset.

  • An existing Workday pro certification is a strong asset.

Travel Requirements
  • Possible occasional travel to the Home Office in Ottawa
