Job description

Overview

Impact the moment

At McGraw Hill School we create best-in-class education solutions that are used by millions of students and educators every day. With that comes the unique opportunity to touch lives across the world and experience first-hand the difference your hard work makes. We do this in a supportive, collaborative environment where you can grow your career in a way that fits into your life.

We are crazy passionate about math. We believe that every classroom should have the core math curriculum that helps students become amazing mathematical thinkers. To that end, we are seeking to grow our core math team with strong product leadership over various products within our core mathematics portfolio. If you are passionate about building great core curriculum products and want to see your work have an impact at epic scale, we want to hear from you!

This position can work remotely within the United States.

How will you make an impact?

As a Senior Product Manager, Core Math, you partner with the VP of Math Product Management to understand and oversee market strategy for our alternative core math products.

Who We Are Seeking

You know that mathematical thinking is the key to unlocking the modern economy. You are passionate about building products that can serve unique markets within a broad landscape. You understand the core curriculum market and the unique aspects in this space that create delighted users, and you have built a few core products that have made happy classrooms. You understand design impacts on a classroom, the evolving nature of PK-12 teachers, the role parents and supporters play in a student’s success and how data can empower players at all levels to be even more empowered to succeed. You can speak all the languages of business from the classroom to the board room. You can support product market launches, and continuously monitor product performance, the competitive environment, and market changes.

We are transforming our product approach, and this is a new role within McGraw Hill Math. We need you to help us continually evolve into the best possible team. We are seeking a product leader who has an unstoppable passion to succeed, and to build successful teams around them. You have experience in various product frameworks and can quickly read a team and know which tools/processes to implement to help them discover, design, and build an excellent product and customer experience. You enjoy the opportunity to contribute to the ongoing transformation of the product team into a more dynamic, creative, and effective organization.

In case you only read bullets:

  • There is no typical day on our team, so you are applying your significant product skills in every way possible! If your days get typical, we are becoming complacent, so you need to shake it up!
  • You understand core education products and how to build great ones.
  • You are able to speak all the languages of the business -classroom, product, sales, PMO, marketing, executive leadership and more - to influence a matrixed organization into being a powerful force for great products.
  • You love the details! You can work effectively in all the tools that help build great products.
  • You love research and can coordinate with strong research partners to get the most impactful information to guide great core products.
  • Be able to make some snazzy, succinct, and powerful presentations to get your point across at all levels of the organization. In fact, you might love building complex (maybe even tedious) business proposals to influence leadership to finance your dreams!
  • You have solid financial experience and can understand the impact of decisions on a profitable P&L.
  • You can say “not now” to aggressive stakeholders while maintaining strong relationships with them.
  • Lead cross-functional groups in solution design, concept development, and decision-making on a component array.
  • Define and prioritize product requirements, serve as an internal/external spokesperson, support the product launch, and continuously monitor product performance, the competitive environment, and market changes.
  • You are an empathetic human being. You can connect/communicate/empathize with our educators, administrators, and our students.
  • You are relentless in your pursuit of success and building strong, successful teammates.

The screening details that you need to know!

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Core curriculum education experience required. You have taken a core curriculum product to market.
  • You are a strong product leader. This role requires someone who can bring solid processes and tools to the table. We would prefer 8+ years of experience in product management including time product managing a core curriculum product.

The pay range for this position is between $75,000 - $129,000 annually, however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
