Job description

Blue Sky Innovative Solutions is seeking a qualified Part-Time Technical Writer for a new hybrid/remote opportunity supporting our clients at Prince George's County Government. In this role, you will work with a small team to execute an organizational assessment and document the proceedings, outcomes, input and feedback, and support the development of roadmapping artifacts.

LOCATION: Largo, MD/Hybrid

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY - Works under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

POSITION DESCRIPTION The Technical Writer performs advanced technical writing work, coordinating the composition, organization, and editing of compiled information. Independently perform the most complex technical writing work and may prepare and refine material for reports, presentation, and publication.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Writes a variety of notes, reports, and presentations for a wide range of uses.
  • Coordinates the display of graphics and the production of documentation.
  • Ensures content is of high quality and conforms with identified standards.
  • Composes, reviews, and edits working documents, materials, and reports.
  • Researches, develops, and disseminates information on techniques for organizing and presenting information.
  • Arranges for the duplication and distribution of documents, publications, and reports.
  • Consults with staff in the development of materials.
  • Prepares responses to correspondence, reports, surveys, questionnaires, and other requests for information.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and summarizes documents.
  • Maintains records and files of work and revisions.
  • Performs related work as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must have at least 5+ years of Technical Writing experience in a government environment.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Skill in writing technical and business documents and using a computer and applicable software.
  • Ability to conduct research; to compose, review, illustrate, and edit technical documents, materials, and reports; and to communicate effectively.
EDUCATION
  • Bachelor's degree in English or related field
HOURS OF OPERATION
This is a part-time position and individuals are expected to have a fair amount of flexibility in their working hours. However, there is a requirement to meet with the customer onsite during their working hours intermittently on a scheduled basis.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL, AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Use sensory skills to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public using the telephone and personal contact as generally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle, or feel objects and controls. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office-related equipment, such as, but not limited to, a personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine. No significant climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States of America. Sponsorship will not be a part of this contract.
  • Must successfully complete a Blue Sky and customer background screening.
