About The Opportunity

At Dayforce, cloud computing allows us to modernize and consolidate IT infrastructure, automate workloads, and pursue next-generation innovation. To continue this transformation, we’re seeking an experienced Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud engineer who has expertise in the strategy, design, development, and implementation of large-scale projects in the cloud. The ideal candidate will have a firm grasp of emerging technologies, platforms, and applications and an ability to customize them to help our business become more secure and efficient. Extensive knowledge of cloud maintenance and advanced industry knowledge are essential to keep us on the cutting edge. The cloud engineer will have an immediate impact on the day-to-day efficiency of IT operations and an ongoing impact on growth.

What You’ll Get To Do

  • Work in tandem with our engineers, architects, and business partners to identify and implement the most optimal cloud-based solutions for the company
  • Define and document best practices and strategies regarding application deployment and infrastructure maintenance
  • Provide guidance, thought leadership, and mentorship to developer teams to build their cloud competencies
  • Ensure application performance, uptime, and scale, maintaining high standards for code quality and thoughtful design
  • Manage cloud environments in accordance with company security guidelines
  • Participate in all aspects of the software development lifecycle for AWS solutions, including planning, requirements, development, testing, and quality assurance
  • Designing and implementing secure network solutions that meet business requirements.
  • Creating and configuring virtualized systems in the AWS environment.
  • Performing infrastructure upgrades and updates to maximize system efficiency while minimizing downtime.
  • Deploying applications in AWS using EC2 instances and Elastic Beanstalk.
  • Creating blueprints using CloudFormation templates or Terraform for common workloads.
  • Maintaining, testing and implementing disaster recovery procedures.
  • Implementing automation using scripting languages (e.g., Python, Perl) to manage AWS services.
  • Building tools for deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting of system resources in an AWS environment.
  • Play a key role in migrating and transforming legacy solutions to the cloud
  • Troubleshoot incidents, identify root causes, fix and document problems, and implement preventive measures
  • Educate teams on the implementation of new cloud-based initiatives, providing associated training when necessary
  • Demonstrate exceptional problem-solving skills, with an ability to see and solve issues before they affect business productivity

Skills And Experience We Value

  • Three or more years of experience in architecting, designing, developing, and implementing cloud solutions on AWS platforms
  • Experience in several of the following areas: database architecture, ETL, business intelligence, big data, machine learning, advanced analytics
  • Proven ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of business analysts, developers, data scientists, and subject-matter experts
  • Experience with infrastructure consolidations, migrations, transformations, and optimizations of dedicated, multi-cloud, and hybrid environments
  • Experience managing Cloud orchestration platforms, automating deployments and scripting (Bash/PowerShell/Python/Terraform)
  • Experience integrating, configuring, deploying, and managing centrally provided common cloud services which may include: IAM, networking, monitoring, operating systems, VMs, App Services, DBaaS, Containers, etc.
  • Experience configuring backup automation, monitoring, and alerting systems.
  • Solid working experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS): Computing and Networking, Storage, Database Services, Administration and Security, Deployment and Management, Application Services
  • Solid working knowledge of cloud strategy, operations, capacity, utilization, disaster recovery, migration, and consolidation best practices
  • Experience with common “as-a-Service” offerings from various service providers across various solution stacks (e.g., infrastructure, platform, software, etc.) is preferred

What Would Make You Really Stand Out

  • Good working knowledge of Application, Operating System, networking topologies and engineering (e.g. Windows Server, RDS, DNS, Active Directory, firewalls, load balancers, and gateway devices)
  • Solid working knowledge of infrastructure (e.g., virtualization technologies, operating systems, platform migration, data management, networking, facilities, and operational facilities)
  • Decent working knowledge of VMWare, Hyper-V, AWS, Google Cloud, IaaS architecture, Networking, Open Source Technology, Cyber Security, and DevOps
  • Experience with other Cloud platforms such as Azure
  • Experience with Windows and Linux Operating Platforms
