Reporting to the Manager, Sales Compensation, this role owns the end-to-end commission process, from data validation through calculation and payout, serving as the go-to resource for commission accuracy, plan administration, analysis, and sales rep inquiries. The ideal candidate combines rigorous attention to detail with strong systems and modeling skills and thrives on turning complex compensation data into accurate payouts and clear answers.

What You Will Be Doing:

Commission Administration & Controls

  • Own the monthly and quarterly commission cycle end to end, from attainment tracking through payout file preparation and Payroll submission.
  • Administer compensation plans within the incentive compensation system, including participant setup, quota loads, plan changes, territory and crediting rule maintenance, and mid-year adjustments.
  • Lead testing of incentive compensation system configuration, plan changes, calculation logic, and integrations, validating results against plan documents before go-live.
  • Design and maintain the controls, validation procedures, and documentation that keep commission administration accurate, compliant, and audit-ready.

Data Validation & Payment Accuracy

  • Own the accuracy of commissionable data received from CRM, ERP, and payroll sources, validating source data and sales crediting each cycle.
  • Independently validate commission calculations and payment results before Payroll submission, and lead post-payment reconciliations with Payroll and Finance.
  • Research and resolve commission variances and crediting questions as they arise, determining root cause and recommending process or control updates with minimal oversight.
  • Serve as the escalation point and subject matter expert for complex rep and manager inquiries and for calculation, crediting, and payment questions, providing guidance to other analysts.

Analytics & Reporting

  • Produce recurring commission and attainment reporting for sales leadership, including payout summaries, accrual support for Finance, and plan performance dashboards.
  • Perform cost modeling and scenario analysis to support plan design decisions, quota setting, and annual planning cycles.
  • Analyze payout trends, attainment distributions, and exception patterns to provide plan effectiveness insights and identify improvement opportunities for the Manager, Sales Compensation.

Process Improvement & Cross-Functional Support

  • Identify and lead improvements to commission processes, including automation of manual calculations, standardized templates, and streamlined data workflows.
  • Execute annual plan rollout, including system setup, plan document distribution, acknowledgment tracking, and rep-facing training on plan mechanics.
  • Support the integration of acquired companies from a commissions perspective, including mapping inherited pay structures, loading participants and plans into MCA systems, and ensuring accurate payouts through the transition.

What You Will Bring To The Team:

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, or related field.
  • 4–6 years of experience in commission administration, sales compensation, sales operations, or FP&A, with hands-on ownership of commission calculation cycles, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Direct experience administering an incentive compensation management platform (e.g., Spiff, Xactly, Varicent, CaptivateIQ, or similar) strongly preferred.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong working knowledge of sales compensation mechanics, including quotas, accelerators, draws, SPIFFs, crediting rules, splits, and true-ups across varied sales roles.
  • Advanced Excel skills (complex formulas, pivot tables, data modeling) required; experience with NetSuite, HubSpot, or comparable CRM/ERP systems and reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau) preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the judgment to research and resolve complex questions independently.
  • Strong communication and customer-service orientation, with the ability to explain complex commission calculations clearly to sales reps, managers, and leadership.
  • High integrity and discretion when handling confidential compensation data; comfort operating in a fast-paced, matrixed organization.
