Every day, our users collaborate to organize on local, national and global issues; hold corporations to account; and demand action from decision makers at the highest levels of government and business. Our platform is free to use, open to all, and completely independent because it’s funded by the people who use it. Our independence makes us a trusted resource for decision makers, who turn to the platform to hear from and respond to the communities they represent. The nonprofit Change.org Foundation oversees both the Change.org Public Benefit Corporation (PBC), a wholly owned corporate subsidiary focused on technology, innovation and growth; and the Change.org charitable programs focused on empowering the most marginalized people and communities globally. This hybrid structure of two mutually supporting organizations enables us to combine the ambition and growth trajectory of a tech company with the mission-focused stewardship of a nonprofit. As an organization, Change.org is committed to providing the tools, resources and support needed to empower anyone, anywhere to create the change they want to see. Job description

Change.org is searching for a Video Producer to make quick-hit news videos and explainers that turn petition stories, and the news behind them, into short videos for TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube. As a key member of our US Communications team, you'll keep pace with the news, test new formats and series, and tell petition stories through the people who started them.

Change.org is the world’s largest platform for democracy.

At a time when dissatisfaction with democracy globally is at an all-time high, we’re investing heavily in using AI to build an operating system for modern democracy. This includes our platform for giving people greater voice, a personalized voter guide for elections, and a new product which aims to bring people across the political spectrum together to identify shared solutions.

To realize this vision, we're building a team at the intersection of technology and civic engagement — bringing together top talent focused on giving citizens a direct voice, strengthening accountability, and building stronger, more resilient democracies.

Key Outcomes:

  • Make quick-hit videos and explainers for TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube, fast enough to keep up with the news.

  • Bring new formats: pitch and test new video formats with the US social team, including at least one idea for a repeatable series.

  • Tell petition stories through the people in them. Work with the people who started each petition to gather their footage and voices, so they lead the story.

  • Learn from results: see where viewers drop off and use it to improve hooks, pacing and formats. Learn what makes a video break out, so more of ours do.

  • Present on camera or narrate videos when a story needs it, while the person who started the petition stays at the center.

The most important core competencies for the role are:

  • Short-form video craft: You know how to hook someone in the first two seconds, hold them to the end and tell the story with the sound off. You make videos that fits each platform it runs on: TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube. You edit fast in tools like Descript and Adobe Creative Cloud and use AI to speed up your work.

  • Creative experimentation: You bring your own format and series ideas, test them and help turn what works into a series we can repeat. You study other accounts, know which formats and creative approaches are breaking through and why, and can adapt them for petition stories on our channels.

  • Storytelling and editorial judgment: You find the human story in a petition (the person who started it, the person affected, the moment that makes someone care) and tell it clearly and accurately, fast. You know the US news cycle well enough to explain a story quickly and get the facts right. You can guide the person who started a petition through filming themselves or a short remote interview, and come away with something usable.

  • Comfort on camera and on mic: You're comfortable presenting or voicing a video when the story needs it.

  • Working across differences: You frame petition stories neutrally, so someone who disagrees with a petition still sees Change.org as an open platform, and you tell those stories in ways that reach people across the political spectrum. You're willing to support campaigns that follow our community guidelines, even if you personally disagree with them.

  • Collaboration: You take feedback well, revise fast and work closely with the US social team on what to make next.

  • AI fluency: You start most of your video work with AI, from scripting to first cuts and captions, and can speak specifically to what's worked and what hasn't. You stay curious about new tools for video production and know when to trust what AI gives you and when to override it.

Target experience:

  • 3+ years making short-form social video for a brand, organization, campaign or media outlet, with regular output.

  • A portfolio of short-form videos you made, including at least one on camera or voiced.

  • Bonus if:

    • you have made explainers, news video or YouTube content.

    • you closely follow or are well-versed in the conservative social media space
