Job description

Team Charter:QA at OfferUp is a quality engineering function. We don't just find defects, we prevent them, measure real user impact, and give product and engineering the confidence to ship faster. We use AI to expand what's possible, from earlier risk detection to self-maintaining test suites to learning directly from production. Our goal is to take quality to the next level.

About the role: We are looking for a Quality Assurance Analyst/Engineer to help shift quality left, innovate new ways of testing earlier, and build a mindset of quality in every team. This isn't a role where you just receive a build and test it. You'll be embedded with your product and engineering team and active from the first conversation about an idea: challenging requirements, spotting risk in designs, and defining what 'good' looks like.

This role is only available outside the US and not available to any individual based within the US or any US territory.

Here’s more of what you will get to do:

  • Partner with product and engineering from discovery and design, shaping acceptance criteria and risk models, understanding the user and the business risk not just the spec
  • Use AI as a collaborator across the lifecycle: generating test scenarios from specs and designs, triaging failures, analyzing logs and crash data, building and keeping automation healthy as the app changes, and even fixing bugs
  • Build and refine AI-assisted workflows, such as agents, reports, and prompts that other QA and engineering teammates can reuse
  • Use production signals (analytics, crash reports, support tickets, user reviews) to decide where to test and what to monitor
  • Define and track quality metrics that matter to the business, not just pass rates
  • Work independently on complex QA tasks requiring planning, scheduling, and testing where a variety of factors may impact results in a fast-moving start-up environment
  • Experiment, measure, and share what works. We expect you to try new approaches, remove ones that don't pay off, and teach the team
  • Strengthen test resilience (flaky test reduction, self-healing, smarter selection) so the team spends time on judgment, not maintenance

You’ll thrive in this role if you have:

  • 3+ years of experience as a QA Analyst / QA Engineer
  • 3+ years performing functional, integration, regression and performance testing
  • Excellent communication skills both written and spoken (fluency in English required)
  • Comfort with ambiguity and a bias toward experimenting, shipping, learning from production, and iterating quickly
  • Demonstrated judgment in applying AI to QA work: you know where it accelerates you, where it needs human oversight, and how to validate its output. You are comfortable evaluating AI-generated tests and code critically.
  • Experience designing prompts, workflows, or agents that improve test design, execution, or analysis.
  • Experience in Mobile app & Web testing
  • Experience automating testing (especially in Maestro and Playwright)
  • Knowledge of QA Methodology and tools
  • Experience gathering test requirements and creating detailed test plans
  • Experience working directly with engineering teams to provide quality support
  • BS in Computer Science or related discipline or equivalent experience

Helpful, but not required:

  • ISTQB certifications
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies
  • Familiarity with AWS cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines
