Senior Façade Engineer

AE Recruitment is seeking a Senior Façade Engineer to join a multidisciplinary architecture and engineering consultancy in the UAE.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role for an experienced façade specialist who can combine detailed engineering knowledge with confident team management and client communication. You will lead a team of two to three people, working closely with architectural, structural and MEP colleagues to develop coordinated façade solutions.

The position will suit someone who enjoys resolving complex technical challenges, guiding colleagues and taking responsibility for façade design through detailed design, tender and construction documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the façade team, managing and supporting two to three team members.
  
• Develop façade system designs and technical details, coordinating closely with architectural, structural and MEP teams.
  
• Assess and recommend appropriate curtain walling, roofing, cladding, insulation and waterproofing systems.
  
• Prepare structural calculations, including calculations for glazing, mullions and canopies.
  
• Prepare thermal calculations to support façade performance requirements.
  
• Translate project sustainability requirements into practical façade design solutions.
  
• Prepare and coordinate detailed design, tender and construction documentation.
  
• Ensure façade proposals address applicable UAE regulations, Municipality requirements and Civil Defence requirements.
  
• Present technical proposals to clients and project stakeholders, explaining design decisions and confidently responding to technical challenges.
  
• Identify and resolve façade interfaces with other disciplines to maintain a coordinated design.
  

Requirements

• Approximately 12–15 years of relevant façade engineering experience, ideally gained within a façade consultancy or multidisciplinary architectural and engineering consultancy.
  
• Strong façade system design and detailing experience.
  
• A thorough understanding of curtain walling, roofing, cladding, insulation and waterproofing systems.
  
• The ability to assess façade systems and recommend appropriate technical solutions.
  
• Demonstrable experience preparing structural and thermal calculations.
  
• Strong multidisciplinary coordination skills, with experience working alongside architectural, structural and MEP teams.
  
• Knowledge of UAE façade regulations, Municipality requirements and Civil Defence requirements.
  
• Experience translating sustainability objectives into façade design solutions.
  
• Proven experience delivering detailed design, tender and construction documentation.
  
• The ability to lead a small technical team while remaining actively involved in design and engineering.
  
• Confident client-facing communication and presentation skills, including the ability to explain and defend technical recommendations.
  
• Site and construction-stage experience would be an advantage.
  

Software skills

• Good working knowledge of Revit is required.
  
• AutoCAD.
  
• Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  

Preferred candidate profile

Preference will be given to candidates already based in the UAE who are accustomed to working within a consultancy environment.

You will bring a practical, collaborative approach, strong technical judgment and the confidence to take ownership of façade design decisions while working closely with the wider project team.
