Role Overview

As a Software Engineer, you will join a product development team responsible for building and improving a next-generation construction DX SaaS platform.

You will work closely with Product Owners, Senior Engineers, and Tech Leads to design, implement, test, and maintain high-quality software applications.

The role requires strong hands-on development capabilities, ownership of assigned features, and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the engineering team.

You will also contribute to a modern engineering culture that integrates AI coding assistants into daily development workflows.

Key Responsibilities

Software Design & Development

• Design, develop, and maintain web application features based on user stories and product requirements.
  
• Take ownership of assigned features from technical design through implementation, testing, and production operation.
  
• Develop reliable, maintainable, and scalable software applications.
  
• Work independently on assigned development tasks while following technical direction provided by Senior Engineers and Tech Leads.
  
• Collaborate with other engineers to solve technical challenges and improve application quality.
  

Code Quality & Testing

• Write and maintain automated tests to ensure software quality.
  
• Participate actively in code reviews and technical discussions.
  
• Identify potential bugs, performance issues, and technical risks early in the development process.
  
• Contribute to improving coding practices, documentation, and development standards.
  
• Ensure quality is built into the development process rather than relying only on testing after implementation.
  

AI-Assisted Software Development

• Use modern AI coding assistants such as Claude Code, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot in daily development activities.
  
• Leverage AI-assisted tools to improve development productivity and efficiency.
  
• Review, test, and validate AI-generated code before integrating it into production systems.
  
• Apply engineering judgment to ensure AI-generated implementations meet quality, security, and maintainability standards.
  
• Continuously explore more effective AI-assisted development workflows.
  

Product Development & Collaboration

• Collaborate with Product Owners and Tech Leads to understand product priorities and technical requirements.
  
• Translate user stories into technical solutions and implementation plans.
  
• Provide realistic development estimates and communicate potential risks or blockers early.
  
• Constructively challenge unclear or ineffective requirements and propose improvements.
  
• Work collaboratively with other engineers to deliver product features in small, manageable releases.
  

Monitoring & Continuous Improvement

• Implement appropriate logging, metrics, and monitoring capabilities before releasing new features.
  
• Monitor and evaluate the performance and effectiveness of developed features.
  
• Take responsibility for maintaining and improving features after deployment.
  
• Identify opportunities to improve application performance, reliability, and user experience.
  
• Support continuous improvements in engineering quality and development efficiency.
  

Requirements

Professional Experience

• 3+ years of professional experience designing, developing, and operating web applications.
  
• Experience independently designing and implementing features in either frontend or backend development.
  
• Experience writing automated tests and participating in code reviews.
  
• Knowledge of relational database design and SQL.
  
• Ability to take ownership of development tasks from implementation through production operation.
  

AI-Assisted Development

• Practical experience using AI coding assistants such as Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar tools in daily software development.
  
• Ability to critically review, test, and validate AI-generated code rather than accepting generated implementations without verification.
  
• Understanding of how to maintain software quality when using AI-assisted development tools.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Google Cloud.
  
• Experience with containers and CI/CD pipeline development.
  
• Experience developing features that integrate LLM APIs or other AI services.
  
• Experience working in Agile or Scrum development environments.
  
• Experience with observability, application monitoring, or performance optimization.
  
• Japanese language proficiency equivalent to JLPT N2 or higher is a plus, but Japanese is not a mandatory requirement. Candidates currently learning Japanese are also welcome.
  

Benefits

Annual Salary: ¥5,000,000 – ¥8,000,000 (depending on experience and qualifications)

Remote Work: Full Remote within Japan (occasional office attendance may be required)

Flexible Working Hours: Yes

Core Time: 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Standard Working Hours: 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM (7.5 working hours per day)

Salary Review: Once per year

Bonuses: Twice per year (March and September)

Holidays: Weekends + Japanese National Holidays

Annual Holidays: Approximately 122 days per year
