Job description

Why Blue Coding?
At Blue Coding, we specialize in hiring excellent developers and amazing people from all over Latin America and other parts of the world. For the past 11 years, we’ve helped cutting-edge companies in the United States and Canada build great development teams and develop great products. Large multinationals, digital agencies, Saas providers, and software consulting firms are just a few of our clients. Our team of over 150 engineers, project managers, QA, UX/UI designers, and many more is distributed in more than 10 countries across the Americas. We are a fully remote company working with a wide array of technologies, and we have expertise in every stage of the software development process.
Our team is highly connected, united, and culturally diverse, and our collaborators are involved in many initiatives around the world, from wildlife preservation to volunteering at local charities. We stand for honesty, fairness, respect, efficiency, hard work, and cooperation.

This position is open to candidates based in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Peru, and the Dominican Republic.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for a Senior .NET Developer to join one of our US clients, a life insurance company serving the middle American market. You’ll be part of a phased modernization program, fixing security vulnerabilities in web applications and moving legacy systems to .NET 8+ on AWS. An IT Manager sets the roadmap and priorities, and you’ll work closely with the client’s IT and cybersecurity teams to deliver it.

Much of the code you’ll work on is legacy, so solid experience with C#, VB.NET, and VB6 is essential. The rest of the stack (Classic ASP, PHP, SQL Server, and Microsoft Access) you can pick up along the way. If you are fluent in English and enjoy digging into older code to make it secure and modern, this role is a good fit. Our jobs are fully remote, and you will be integrated directly into the client’s team.

Here are some of the exciting day-to-day challenges you will face in this role:
  • Identify security vulnerabilities and modernization opportunities, and execute the roadmap set by the IT Manager
  • Remediate security findings from penetration tests, code reviews, and automated scanning tools.
  • Modernize and enhance legacy applications.
  • Refactor, redesign, and migrate applications to current frameworks and security standards.
  • Develop, test, deploy, and maintain secure web applications and services.
  • Apply secure coding practices and keep applications compliant with the client's security requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application defects.
  • Take part in phased deployments and post-deployment support.

  • You will shine if you have:
  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of software development experience in Microsoft-based environments.
  • Strong hands-on experience with C# and VB.NET.
  • Solid experience working with Visual Basic 6 (VB6) applications.
  • Experience with relational databases, ideally Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, and the ability to manage several assignments at once.
  • Fluent English and availability to work US time zone hours in a fast-paced, agile environment.

  • It doesn’t hurt if you also:
  • Have experience modernizing legacy applications to .NET 8 or later.
  • Have worked with ASP.NET, Classic ASP, or PHP.
  • Have worked with Microsoft Access (32- and 64-bit).
  • Have experience with AWS.
  • Have hands-on experience fixing web application vulnerabilities such as SQL injection and cross-site scripting (XSS), and know authentication, authorization, input validation, and session management.
  • Have worked with automated security scanning tools.
  • Have experience with REST APIs, CI/CD pipelines, and Git-based source control (GitHub, Bitbucket, or similar).

  • What we offer:
  • Salary in USD
  • 100% Remote
