Job description

As a Quality Automation Engineer at Infotech, you'll help ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of the products that state transportation agencies, contractors, and local governments rely on every day. You'll join a fast-paced development team and own how we test, from the framework that runs the checks to the standards that shape how the whole engineering organization thinks about quality.

Who we are looking for

You have strong experience with test automation frameworks, API testing, and CI/CD pipelines, and you feel most at home in an agile environment. You design test suites that are scalable and maintainable, and you can tell a flaky test from a true product bug at a glance. You understand the business your tests protect.

You're also a collaborator. You'll partner with engineers and product managers early, during refinement, to define acceptance criteria and build for testability, and you'll help developers add automated checks earlier in the pull request cycle. You're curious about how AI tools and new techniques can improve how we deliver software, and you're passionate about building quality from the start.

What it's like to be an engineer at Infotech

Our vision

We build software that makes our customers' jobs easier, faster, and less complicated. We do this by learning their challenges, solving problems in thoughtful ways, and always looking for ways to improve.

Our culture

We're a close-knit group of curious, talented people who care about the work we do and the people we work with. On our team, you'll find that we are:

  • Curious and open. We ask questions, explore options, and stay open to new ideas.
  • Creative and lighthearted. We believe work is better with a little fun.
  • Relaxed and approachable while also being ambitious and technically sharp.
  • Focused on our customers and driven to solve real problems.
  • Empowering and supportive. We succeed by helping each other succeed.
  • Energized and communicative. We value clear, open collaboration and trust.
  • Always evolving. We love a good technical challenge and use it to grow together.

What will you do in this role?

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable test automation frameworks for web applications, APIs, and backend services.
  • Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous testing, fast feedback loops, and automated quality gates.
  • Manage test environments, test data generation, and mock services so tests stay independent of external dependencies.
  • Speed up test execution through parallelization, containerization, and proactive management of flaky tests.
  • Create, maintain, and run functional, regression, API, integration, and end-to-end test suites.
  • Analyze build failures, separate framework issues from true product bugs, and track defects through resolution.
  • Expand coverage to non-functional requirements, including performance, load, security, and accessibility testing.
  • Track quality metrics and test coverage to find gaps and build confidence in every release.
  • Partner with software engineers and product managers during refinement to define acceptance criteria and build for testability.
  • Champion a shift-left testing culture by helping developers add automated checks earlier in the pull request cycle.
  • Take part in sprint planning, review test pull requests, and join release readiness sign-offs.
  • Help set engineering-wide QA standards, automation best practices, and testing guidelines.
  • Use AI tools and trend analysis to spot new opportunities and contribute ideas that improve our processes, services, and products.

The technical chops needed for this role

We know great engineers pick up new tools and approaches quickly, so depth and adaptability matter more than checking every box. That said, we expect proven, hands-on experience in the areas below. You don't need to cover everything, but you should feel confident operating at a confident level and contributing meaningfully from day one.
