Specialty: Cardiology Stepdown
The 38-bed Cardiology/Telemetry unit primarily functions as a Cardiac Stepdown unit, providing specialized care to patients requiring cardiac monitoring and management. The unit has a strong focus on cardioversions, pre- and post-procedure care for pacemaker and implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) implantation and explanation, and the management of patients with heart failure. As part of the orientation process, all new hires participate in specialized education covering EKG interpretation, cardiac dysrhythmias, heart failure management, and device therapy to support clinical competency and deliver high-quality patient care.
Specialty: Cardiovascular Step Down
The CV Stepdown is a high-volume, fast-paced Cardiovascular Thoracic Stepdown unit, also known as an Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) or Progressive Care Unit (PCU). The unit provides intermediate-level care for patients recovering from open and minimally invasive cardiac and thoracic procedures, surgical interventions, congenital or acquired cardiac defects, and heart attacks.
Nurses provide specialized care to patients requiring close cardiac monitoring, specialized cardiac medications, and advanced treatment modalities. This dynamic environment offers experienced nurses the opportunity to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while supporting patients through recovery from complex cardiovascular and thoracic conditions.
The RN Clinician is an experienced healthcare professional with a strong understanding of patient care for a specific population. Using clinical knowledge, research, and experience, they adapt to changing situations and personalize care based on the AACN Synergy Model for Patient Care.
