Job description

The Role

The Compliance Specialist will be a cross-functional role combining aspects of science, product innovation, marketing, and law. This position, reporting to our Corporate Counsel within the Legal department, will support product formulations and claims across MaryRuth’s dietary supplements and personal care products by critically evaluating scientific research, helping the company bring to market innovative products with compelling, well-supported, and compliant claims. The Compliance Specialist will also develop claim substantiation documentation, review labeling and advertising, and translate complex scientific findings into clear recommendations that effectively inform both legal risk assessments and business decisions. This is a full-time, salaried, exempt, remote position. PST working hours are preferred. The compensation range for this role is $85,000 to $100,000 USD/year.

  • Work closely with company-wide teams to manage emerging domestic and international compliance and substantiation questions.

  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

  • Travel (<5%) may be required on an as-needed basis with advance notice provided to the employee.

  • Familiarity with FDA and FTC requirements governing product labeling and advertising, USDA organic regulations, third-party certifications, and related requirements is ideal.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft or Google Suite is required; familiarity with AI-assisted research tools, project management software, or QMS/PLM platforms is a plus.

  • Strong ability to translate complex scientific information into clear, practical conclusions for non-scientific internal and external stakeholders.

  • Excellent research, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills; strong attention to detail and the ability to independently manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
