Job description

Atlassian is seeking a visionary and influential Field Chief Technology Officer (fCTO) to serve as a trusted advisor to our most strategic enterprise customers across the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. The Field CTO helps executives navigate technology, organizational, and business transformation—ensuring that Atlassian’s cloud platform delivers measurable, enterprise-grade impact at scale.

This is not a traditional CTO role. As a Field CTO, you will represent Atlassian externally with CxOs and industry leaders while shaping Atlassian internally through roadmap influence, product feedback, and thought leadership. You will operate at the intersection of strategy, technology, and business outcomes—inspiring both customers and Atlassian teams to unlock what’s possible.

Working at Atlassian

Atlassians can choose where they work – whether in an office, from home, or a combination of the two. That way, Atlassians have more control over supporting their family, personal goals, and other priorities. We can hire people in any country where we have a legal entity.

Enterprise & Organizational Impact

  • Act as a trusted C-suite advisor, engaging credibly with CIOs, CTOs, CISOs, and business executives on technology strategy, risk, governance, and organizational agility.

  • Partner with Atlassian leadership to align enterprise technology strategy with customer outcomes and business objectives.

  • Mentor and enable Atlassian’s field teams and partners to elevate customer conversations and scale executive engagement globally.

  • Serve as the voice of the customer inside Atlassian, championing enterprise requirements across security, compliance, governance, and operational reliability.

Product & Platform Impact

  • Champion Atlassian’s enterprise-grade capabilities—scalability, performance, security, compliance, governance, and resilience.

  • Provide architectural guidance for enterprise-scale adoption, cloud migrations, and operational best practices.

  • Influence Atlassian’s product and platform roadmaps by bringing forward customer insights, industry trends, and regulatory requirements, with a proven ability to drive change.

  • Collaborate with product and engineering leadership to ensure enterprise needs are prioritized and reflected in platform investments.

  • Define and track customer success criteria, ensuring enterprise adoption translates into tangible business value.

Customer & Revenue Impact

  • Lead impactful executive engagements—including Executive Briefings, Roundtables, Board-level discussions, and 1:1s—to deepen trust and accelerate adoption.

  • Partner with sales and account teams to expand Atlassian’s footprint by framing enterprise solutions in terms of business outcomes and risk mitigation.

  • Identify opportunities for upsell and cross-sell by highlighting enterprise capabilities that drive security, compliance, and governance outcomes.

  • Build long-term trusted relationships with strategic customers, ensuring alignment of Atlassian’s roadmap with their enterprise transformation journeys.

Public & Industry Impact

  • Represent Atlassian at regional and global conferences, analyst briefings, and executive forums as a thought leader on enterprise collaboration, security, and transformation at scale.

  • Build relationships with key ecosystem partners, integrators, and regulators to extend Atlassian’s industry influence.

  • Publish thought leadership on emerging technology and business trends—including AI, automation, distributed systems, and enterprise collaboration models.

  • Stay ahead of evolving regional and glbal industry and regulatory landscapes to guide both Atlassian and customer strategies.

  • Proven senior technology leadership experience (Field CTO, CTO, Chief Architect, or equivalent) with direct executive engagement in enterprise SaaS environments.

  • Deep expertise in enterprise-grade cloud capabilities—scale, performance, security, compliance, governance, and risk management.

  • Preferred industry experience in banking & financial services (BFSI), technology/IT services, and/or telecommunications, with experience addressing industry-specific regulations, controls, and compliance requirements at both strategic and technical levels.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence product strategy and roadmaps based on enterprise requirements and market trends.

  • Proven experience with Atlassian products (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Trello, etc.) and ability to articulate their value in large, complex environments.

  • Strong executive presence and storytelling skills, with the ability to influence at the C-suite and Board level.

  • Experience working across regulated industries (e.g., financial services, healthcare, government) and navigating compliance/regulatory challenges.

  • Cloud-native experience, high-scale SaaS expertise, and knowledge of distributed systems are a strong plus.

  • A track record of driving measurable customer and revenue impact through technology leadership.
