Job description

Overview:

A warm, welcoming family in Manhattan's Union Square area seeks a reliable, experienced, fluent Mandarin-speaking Nanny to care for their 2-year-old son. Both parents speak Mandarin fluently and want someone who can naturally incorporate the language into their child's daily routine while providing attentive, nurturing, developmentally appropriate care.

The ideal candidate will have a calm, patient, and somewhat reserved personality, allowing the child opportunities for independent play and exploration rather than directing every activity. The family values someone who is responsible, punctual, communicative, and comfortable collaborating with parents who are occasionally home during the day.

This is a live-out position with a Monday through Friday schedule and approximately 40 hours per week, including flexibility for one evening per week with advance notice. The family's current nanny will be departing toward the end of the year, and they are flexible on the start date to ensure a smooth transition.

Schedule:
Monday through Friday, approximately 40 hours per week.
Anticipated core hours are 11:30 AM-6:30 PM, with flexibility for one additional evening per week, scheduled with advance notice.

  • Prepare nutritious meals and snacks for the child.
  • Maintain a clean, organized bedroom, play areas, and belongings.
  • Handle children's laundry and other light, child-related housekeeping duties.
  • Manage the child's daily routine while remaining flexible to the family's preferences.
  • Communicate openly with both parents regarding the child's activities, development, and needs.
  • Collaborate with the parents to maintain consistency in childcare routines and expectations.
Qualifications:
  • Calm, patient, nurturing, and naturally warm demeanor.
  • Comfortable encouraging independent play without excessive supervision or structured direction.

  • Collaborative and receptive to parental preferences and feedback.

Requirements:
  • Fluency in Mandarin Chinese is required.
