Aventon

Rooted in performance cycling, Aventon’s heritage of innovation propelled us into a bold belief in ourselves that we could make e-mobility more enjoyable. Aventon was born a fixed-gear bicycle company. In 2021, we completely phased out the fixie and wrapped our arms around being the industry leader in ebikes. Why? Because we were bold enough to believe in this evolution for our customers and believe in the courage it takes to move beyond a previous state of being. We are dedicated to enabling our customers to get out there, to feel alive, and to feel good. We know that they are looking to live life to the fullest, and going for a ride creates an opportunity for our customers to change the way they experience the world.

Job description

About Aventon
Aventon is an electric bicycle company that is passionate about creating high-quality, stylish, and affordable ebikes. We believe that e-bikes have the potential to revolutionize transportation and make it more accessible for everyone. Aventon is committed to providing our customers with the best possible riding experience, and we are always looking for ways to improve our products and services.

We don’t just sell ebikes; we enable everyday adventures and innovation. We need a visionary who is as comfortable in a technical product teardown as they are in a high-level creative brainstorm. This is one of the most exciting roles at Aventon.

Position Summary
The Field Sales Manager is responsible for managing and growing an assigned territory of electric bike dealers and partners. This is an outbound sales role focused on expanding Aventon's dealer network. This role focuses on bringing new business to the organization through our business-to-business channel by partnering with independent bike shops and other retailers to carry the Aventon brand in-store across the US. This role acts as a gatekeeper to the sales team by serving as a point of contact for new business on the B2B channel.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute strategic territory sales plans to achieve revenue targets, increase market share, and expand Aventon's dealer network.
  • Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales objectives through effective business development, account management, and territory optimization.
  • Identify, recruit, and onboard new dealer partners while strengthening relationships with existing accounts to maximize long-term growth and profitability.
  • Direct and prioritize field sales activities to ensure effective territory coverage, dealer engagement, and execution of sales initiatives.
  • Monitor market trends, competitive activity, and dealer feedback to identify opportunities and provide strategic recommendations to leadership.
  • Lead, develop, and motivate a team of Field Sales Representatives to achieve territory revenue, dealer growth, and performance objectives.
  • Recruit, hire, onboard, coach, and retain top-performing sales talent while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Manage employee performance through goal setting, coaching, performance evaluations, development planning, and corrective action when necessary.
  • Partner with dealers and Field Sales Representatives to deliver product training, sales support, and merchandising strategies that enhance product visibility and customer experience.
  • Maintain accurate sales forecasts, pipeline visibility, account activity, and CRM reporting while collaborating cross-functionally to support dealer success and company growth.

  • Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of sales experience with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales quotas, growing territories, and driving revenue growth.
  • 2+ years of experience leading, coaching, and developing sales teams, including hiring, performance management, and employee development.
  • Demonstrated experience in sales, business development, account management, or customer relationship management, preferably within a dealer or channel sales environment.
  • Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, solve problems effectively, and take ownership of territory performance and business objectives.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and other business applications; experience with Zendesk is a plus.
  • Experience within the cycling, electric bike, outdoor recreation, sporting goods, or related industries is preferred; existing relationships with dealers, retailers, or distributors are highly desirable.

  • Physical Requirements & Environmental Conditions:
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform repetitive motions during dealer visits, trade shows, training sessions, and other business activities.
  • Ability to safely lift and carry materials, equipment, and product accessories weighing up to 50 pounds independently.
  • Ability to move, maneuver, assemble, load, unload, and position electric bicycles weighing up to 100 pounds, with or without assistance.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle and maintain a valid driver's license to conduct business-related travel within the assigned territory.
  • Ability to travel up to 75% of the time, including overnight travel, to support dealer relationships, team development, sales initiatives, industry events, and business operations.
  • Ability to use a computer, mobile phone, tablet, and other office equipment for extended periods.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and through electronic communication platforms.
  • Ability to work in a variety of environments, including retail stores, warehouses, trade shows, distribution facilities, corporate offices, and outdoor locations in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to occasionally work evenings, weekends, and extended hours as business needs require.

  • Keys to Success:
  • DATA DRIVEN – you thrive on data and use it to guide your decision making, recommendations, and priorities.
  • NIMBLE – you can work in ambiguity and are committed to helping Aventon level up. You can shift perspectives, priorities, and deadlines.
  • RESILIENT – you don’t shy away from a challenge and take every opportunity to learn and grow. You’re accountable, can admit when you’re wrong, and can come back to the table after a hard day to keep working toward our desired future.
  • SOLUTIONS ORIENTED / SOLUTIONIZED – you can identify the problem and find a solution for it. You strive for continuous improvement and aren’t afraid to speak up about what is working, and what isn’t.
  • ENGAGED – you love the work, love the product, and believe in the mission. If you don’t connect with something about Avant Sports, this probably isn’t the place for you.
