We are currently recruiting for a Fleet Engineering Business Partner to join the Fleet Engineering team on a full-time, permanent basis, reporting into the National Fleet Engineering Lead.

As the Fleet Engineering Business Partner it is your responsibility to identify initiatives for continuous improvement around vehicle repair spend and work with the depots and repair agents supporting the control of the repairs and maintenance budgets.

You will be a key support function for vehicle design specification and new build delivery plans and you will influence and coach depot colleagues to achieve improved fleet efficiency, standards, and compliance.

The role is very automatous due to its topic specific expertise; however, this must also link in with wider business strategies and involves a significant amount of collaborative working within the Supply Chain Operating team, Central Engineering, Indirect Goods & Services and Suppliers

We are offering a remote base contract with occasional travel across the UK to depots where travel expenses will be reimbursed. Flexibility will be required for ad hoc team and supplier meetings.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

  • Cost control and management of VOR
  • Subject matter expert in fleet maintenance and maintenance cost control.
  • Operate at a senior level within the Supply Chain leadership team supporting predominantly the operation, dealing with insurance companies, enforcing bodies, trade bodies and major suppliers.
  • Have a strong focus on cost management across the whole vehicle operational scope (inc. fleet mix, use, repair, and maintenance)
  • Ensure industry leading governance measures are in place to protect the organisation from adverse activity from the relevant enforcing authorities (Police, DVSA, Traffic Commissioner)
  • Ensure vehicle maintenance regimes are in place to satisfy legal obligations, manufacturers requirements and provide a reliable and safe operating fleet.
  • Support the Operations teams with robust cost management systems and processes.
  • Link the Fleet Strategy to the business, ensuring key stakeholders and customers get a high-quality service.
  • Support the delivery of new build programs in line with business requirements, including fleet mix & implementation.
  • Identify cost and efficiency improvements for both new an existing fleet.
  • Support the National Fleet Manager.

About you:

This role will suit someone who strives for continuous improvement with an extensive background within Fleet Management and Operations in a high volume, fast paced environment. Ideally you will hold a Certificate of Competence in Road Transport Operations and a Mechanical Engineering qualification and have a NEBOSH/Health & Safety qualification. Microsoft skills are essential in this role; PowerPoint, Project, Word and Excel, so candidates need to be proficient in the use of these as well as having strong skills. It is highly advantageous to be a member of appropriate professional body (Society of Operation Engineers, Institute of Road Transport Engineers) and you must hold a Full Cat B licence. Ideally you will have previous management/supervisory experience.
