  • Finish & Material Selection: Specify durable, aesthetically elevated, and compliant materials, finishes, lighting, and custom joinery tailored to healthcare and commercial applications.
  • Commercial Guidance: Confidently advise clients on layout efficiency, material longevity, and buildability, balancing design aesthetics with commercial viability.
  • Design & Documentation Delivery: Produce high-quality concept packages, detailed layout coordination drawings, joinery details, and finishes schedules for internal teams and project managers.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Australian-based project managers, contracts administrators, and external engineering/building consultants to ensure design intent aligns seamlessly with site conditions and construction requirements.

Requirements

  • Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Interior Architecture with 4 to 6+ years of professional experience specializing in interior design, spatial planning, and commercial/healthcare fit-outs.
  • Client-Facing Soft Skills: Exceptional spoken and written English with a confident, consultative communication style capable of running live discovery sessions and pitching design concepts to business owners and medical professionals.
  • Core Technical Competencies: Strong spatial intelligence, material/finish knowledge, and practical understanding of interior construction detailing and joinery design.
  • Software Proficiency: Hands-on mastery of industry-standard design tools (e.g., ArchiCAD, AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Enscape, or similar 3D rendering platforms).
  • Remote Readiness: A reliable home office setup with high-speed internet, a dedicated working space, and the ability to work aligned with Australian business hours.

Preferred Skills: (Nice-To-Have)

  • Previous work on Australian fitout projects.
  • Medical, dental, healthcare or other commercial interior projects.
  • Familiarity with the Australian NCC/BCA, Australian Standards and accessibility requirements relevant to fitout documentation.
  • Experience working remotely with builders, project managers and consultant teams.
  • Experience developing reception designs, detailed joinery packages and coordinated finishes schedules.
