Job description

Avenga is an international engineering firm helping businesses operate with AI at the core. With 6,000+ experts worldwide, we combine engineering expertise with AI-native thinking to turn ambitious ideas into real-world impact across industries, technologies, and markets.

At the core of the role

We are looking for an experienced CAD Software Engineer to develop and enhance engineering automation solutions that make mechanical design processes faster, smarter, and more efficient.

You will join a global Engineering Systems team responsible for developing and maintaining custom applications, CAD automation tools, and integrations supporting Siemens NX and related engineering workflows.

This role combines software engineering with mechanical design expertise. You will work closely with engineering, product development, and technical teams to translate complex engineering requirements into reliable, scalable software solutions.

While Siemens NX and NXOpen experience would be a strong advantage, we also welcome developers with hands-on CAD automation experience in other platforms, such as SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, or CATIA.

Core skills you’ll bring

  • Strong C#/.NET development skills and experience building production-quality software solutions.

  • Hands-on experience developing CAD automation tools, custom applications, or plug-ins for mechanical CAD systems.

  • Solid understanding of mechanical design principles, 3D modeling, and engineering workflows.

  • Experience with Git and software version control practices.

  • Ability to translate engineering requirements into well-structured, maintainable software solutions.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and take ownership of development tasks.

  • Good communication skills in English and experience collaborating with technical stakeholders.

Nice-to-have

  • Experience with Siemens NX and NXOpen API.

  • C++ development experience, particularly maintaining or extending existing engineering applications.

  • Experience with SolidWorks API, Inventor API, CATIA automation, or other CAD development frameworks.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and PLM systems or integrations.

  • Experience with automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and Azure DevOps.

  • Familiarity with web application development.

The impact you'll create

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy custom CAD automation solutions and engineering applications.

  • Build new tools and enhance existing applications using C# and, where applicable, C++.

  • Automate mechanical design processes to improve engineering efficiency, consistency, and quality.

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to understand design requirements and implement effective technical solutions.

  • Maintain and improve existing Siemens NX applications, integrations, and third-party plug-ins.

  • Troubleshoot complex CAD automation issues and support continuous improvement through clean code, testing, and DevOps practices.
