Flash Pack

Travel & Tourism

Flash is, first and foremost, a group of passionate consumers who love amazing products from innovative and vibrant D2C brands, both big and small. As consumers, we love it when these brands go above and beyond to provide delightful experiences. But we think this doesn't happen often enough, especially now that we are all increasingly discovering new products via social media, publisher websites, and creators. We see this as a missed opportunity because brands simply don't have the tools to take advantage of this trend! We are building the technology that is optimised for these (and many others) points of discovery. Our checkout is built to be contextual and can therefore be accessed everywhere - via social media ads, SMS, email, QR codes, product packaging and other brand assets. In essence, our checkout makes the physical and digital worlds instantly shoppable and revolutionises the way people shop and interact with their favourite brands. Our business is both B2B and B2C. Our primary customers are innovative direct-to-consumer brands that care about providing the very best customer experience. But our technology will also end up in the hands of consumers that interact with and purchase products from these brands. We have recently secured €500,000 in pre-seed funding from Flash Ventures to help us build the product and recruit the team that can help us realise our vision.

Job description

N.B. This role is open to remote candidates within the UK only.

About Flash Pack:

When was the last time you made a new friend? The quality of your relationships is the single most important factor for your mental health. Travel has a unique ability to fast-forward the friendship-making process, which is why we’re on a mission to create one million meaningful friendships using the power of travel and technology as a platform for human connection.

We create curated social adventures for solo travellers in their 30s, 40s and 50s. Since launching in 2014, we’ve seen impressive year-on-year growth and become the category leader in a thriving, rapidly expanding market with the majority of our business now in the US.

We’re well-funded, we’ve shaken up an outdated industry, and we see ourselves as a friendship company far more than a travel company. Our culture is down-to-earth, hard-working and compassionate, built by exceptional people who care deeply about doing work we’re proud of.

You can find out more about our culture and life at Flash Pack here.

The Role:

At Flash Pack, design isn't just about UX. It's about giving Flashpackers the feeling that they've just walked into a hotel lobby, that the adventure starts the second they hit the website, not just when they step off the plane.

You'll work closely with our Co-founder, Head of Product and Engineering team to take ideas from early thinking through to launch and iteration.

You'll own the end to end design process, helping us solve meaningful customer problems while raising the quality bar across everything we ship. You'll work within our established brand rather than own it, collaborating closely with colleagues who own imagery and visual craft to create product experiences that feel beautifully executed, premium in every detail, and unmistakably Flash Pack.

This is a hands-on individual contributor role and a rare opportunity to be the only Product Designer in the business. That means you'll have genuine influence over the product experience without needing to manage people or build a design function.

We're looking for someone who loves doing the work, simplifying flows like checkout, refining interactions, moving with purposeful momentum and bringing conviction to design decisions. You'll use research, customer insight and data to inform your decisions, but never at the expense of judgement.

We want someone with exceptional UX, strong instincts for flows, interaction and structure, and a sharp visual eye. Someone who has shipped consumer products people call beautiful and can explain why they work, who knows when a screen feels like Flash Pack and when it feels like a booking engine, and who believes great design is often what customers remember long after they've forgotten the feature itself.

In line with our salary framework, the salary for this role is £83,000–£89,500 depending on experience. This is a remote-flexible role. In practice, we come together as a team in London every 6–8 weeks, with the rest of the time spent working remotely from within the UK.

Where you will spend your time:

  • Owning end to end design for key initiatives, starting with checkout, trip pages, and presenting new premium stays well

  • Making checkout simpler and faster, and raising the bar on interaction quality and conversion

  • Partnering closely with Product, Engineering, Data and Marketing to shape solutions

  • Using quantitative data and qualitative insight to inform design decisions

  • Rapidly iterating in ambiguous, fast moving environments

  • Challenging product direction constructively and proposing better alternatives

  • Taking initiative to identify problems worth solving, not just responding to briefs

What we’d love to see from you:

You'll bring a portfolio that demonstrates outstanding craft, not just well documented processes. We'd love to see examples of work you're most proud of, including at least one product you'd call beautiful. We want to understand what you changed, why you made those decisions, and how your design improved the feel of the experience as well as the outcome.

  • You'll be a collaborative team member and know that design doesn't happen in a bubble

  • You will have strong hands on product design experience in a startup or scale up environment

  • Exceptional UX, with real depth in flows, interaction and structure

  • A strong visual eye. You've shipped consumer products people describe as beautiful and can explain why they work, though art direction or a classic brand design background isn't required here

  • An instinct for emotional flair, so you know when a screen feels like Flash Pack and when it feels like a booking engine

  • A clear point of view and the confidence to advocate for better experiences, even when they're harder to achieve

  • Significant hands on experience shipping consumer digital products in fast moving, high growth environments, comfortable owning problems from discovery through to delivery

  • Some experience with app design is a plus. We're likely to build an app in 2027, though this isn't a pure app role as checkout and web work stay central

  • A strong bias toward action and momentum over perfection. You are happy to fail and learn, and happy operating in ambiguity

  • Naturally curious about AI and already using it thoughtfully to improve your design practice, speed up exploration and increase your impact

We're after the right person and if you don't quite hit all the criteria, we'd still encourage you to apply. We'd love to chat and see if you could be a great fit for Flash Pack
