External Collections Specialist – Bilingual (English/Spanish)

Location: Houston, TX – Greater Houston Area
Job Type: Full-Time | Field-Based
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–6:00 PM
Compensation: $41,600–$70,000+ annually, including bonuses and commissions

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a motivated, bilingual External Collections Specialist to support a financial services client in the Greater Houston area.

This position focuses on managing delinquent mortgage accounts through in-person customer visits, negotiating payment arrangements, and helping customers identify solutions to resolve outstanding balances.

This is a field-based position, not an office or remote role, requiring regular travel throughout the assigned territory.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct in-person visits with customers regarding past-due mortgage payments.
• Negotiate payment arrangements and assist customers in resolving delinquent accounts.
• Maintain professional and respectful communication with customers facing financial difficulties.
• Verify property occupancy and document visits, including property photographs when required.
• Follow up on outstanding balances and payment commitments.
• Maintain accurate records of collection activities, customer interactions, and account statuses.
• Plan and manage daily routes independently.
• Coordinate with internal collections teams to provide account updates.
• Work toward established monthly collection and performance goals.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of professional collections experience.
• Fluency in English and Spanish (required).
• Valid Texas driver's license.
• Reliable personal vehicle and ability to travel extensively throughout the Greater Houston area.
• Strong negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive financial conversations with professionalism and empathy.
• Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous field or door-to-door collections experience.
• Experience in mortgage, loan, or financial services collections.

Work Location & Schedule

• Field-based role covering Harris, Montgomery, Liberty, and Fort Bend Counties.
• Daily routes begin from the employee's home.
• Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM–6:00 PM, with potential overtime.
