About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Backend & AI Engineer to design and build next-generation Agentic AI platforms, combining Python backend engineering, data-driven intelligence, and AI orchestration.

This role focuses on developing AI-powered microservices, intelligent agents, data pipelines, and long-running event-driven workflows that enable automation, decision-making, and AI-assisted operations at scale.

You will work closely with cloud, AI, and product teams to deliver production-grade AI systems that integrate LLMs, retrieval pipelines, vector databases, and agent frameworks on Microsoft Azure.

Required Qualifications

Technical Expertise

8+ years of professional software engineering experience.

5+ years of hands-on experience with:

• Python backend development (FastAPI, Flask, or similar)
• REST API design and microservices architecture
• Event-driven systems and asynchronous workflows
• Azure App Service (containers) and Azure Functions
• Azure Service Bus (queues/topics)
• Backend services supporting AI, data-driven workflows, and intelligent automation.
• Cosmos DB (NoSQL; vector search is a plus)
• Writing scalable, cloud-native services on Microsoft Azure
• Experience with Agile project management tools (Jira or Azure DevOps)

Solid understanding of software design principles: SOLID, design patterns, clean architecture, and distributed systems.

Applied Data Science & AI Engineering

• Experience applying Data Science concepts within backend and AI-driven systems.
• Data processing and transformation for AI workloads (feature extraction, embeddings, structured outputs).
• Experience building and integrating data pipelines to support AI and agent-based workflows.
• Understanding of data-driven decision logic and AI-assisted automation in production systems.

AI-Enhanced Engineering & Agentic Frameworks

Experience using AI-assisted development tools, including:

• GitHub Copilot
• Cursor IDE or similar AI-driven coding environments

Exposure to or hands-on work with Agentic AI and orchestration frameworks, such as:

• Microsoft Agent Framework
• LangGraph, LangChain
• Microsoft Semantic Kernel
• AutoGen
• Azure AI Services (Azure OpenAI, Cognitive Services)

Understanding and implementation of:

• Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)
• Vector databases and semantic search
• Long-running, event-driven AI workflows
• Prompt engineering and tool-based agent design

Ability to prototype, integrate, and optimize intelligent automation, copilots, and multi-agent workflows.

• Experience integrating AI models and agents into production-grade backend systems.

Professional Skills

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong communication skills with English proficiency at B2/C1 level.
• Strong ownership mindset and passion for building scalable platforms.

Nice to Have

• Experience with microservices architectures, event-driven patterns, and messaging systems.
• Familiarity with ELSA workflows or BPMN-style orchestration.
• Test automation and unit testing in Python (PyTest, etc.).
• Experience with Azure services such as:
