Job description

About the role

Our client is looking for an experienced Residential Conveyancer to run a mixed residential caseload. You will focus purely on the legal work, taking files through to completion.

Key responsibilities

  • Run your own caseload of mixed residential matters: sales, purchases, remortgages and transfers of equity

  • Handle wider residential work, including shared ownership, first registrations, probate sales and other matters.

  • Work on freehold and leasehold properties, including new-build where needed

  • Draft and approve contracts and transfer deeds

  • Raise and reply to pre-contract enquiries, and follow up on any outstanding replies

  • Review searches, title and leases, and prepare reports on title for clients

  • Prepare completion statements and request mortgage funds

  • Agree and manage exchange and completion dates

  • Keep clients, estate agents, brokers and the other side updated from start to finish

  • Hand files over to the post-completion team once completed

  • Take ownership of compliance across your caseload, making sure every file meets AML, source of funds and risk requirements

  • Keep case management notes and file records up to date

Caseload and support

Your caseload will be 60 to 80 live files. Where you have it depends on whether you have support.

About you

  • Qualified Solicitor, Licensed Conveyancer or Chartered Legal Executive, or equivalent experience as a fee earner

  • At least 5 years running your own mixed residential caseload

  • Confident with both freehold and leasehold work

  • Able to manage 60+ files on your own with little supervision

  • Organised and self-motivated, and comfortable working remotely

  • Clear communicator with clients, agents and other firms

  • Used to case management systems and online search providers
