Job description

About the role:

The Digital Technologies team is responsible for the technology that powers PURE’s member, broker, and mobile experiences. We are at an exciting point in our digital journey: with the modernization of our core digital platforms, we have an opportunity to build on that foundation and continue elevating the digital experiences we provide to our members and brokers, with the ambition to set a higher bar for digital experiences in insurance.

As the Head of Project Execution, you will play a key leadership role in turning that opportunity into reality. You will lead execution across our digital portfolio, partner with business and technology leaders to shape priorities, and help teams bring new capabilities and experiences to market.

We are looking for someone who is driven, intellectually curious, and energized by building in a fast-paced, evolving environment. The ideal candidate combines strong delivery leadership with the technical depth to oversee development efforts, identify execution constraints, challenge assumptions, and develop credible options to move the work forward. This leader will work across internal teams, external partners, and geographically distributed resources to drive greater velocity and predictability while helping preserve a culture built on trust, collaboration, accountability, curiosity, and shared ownership.

What you’ll do:

Driving our digital roadmap and experiences forward
• Lead execution across PURE’s Member, Broker, Mobile, and emerging digital experiences, from discovery and solution design through launch and success measurement.
• Partner with business and technology leaders to translate business opportunities and member and broker needs into actionable priorities and roadmaps.
• Bring an outside-in perspective, staying connected to insurance technology, digital experience trends, and emerging capabilities to identify opportunities to evolve our experiences and how we deliver them.
• Create momentum around new ideas while balancing innovation with business value, technical feasibility, and team capacity.

Leading execution across a complex technology portfolio
• Translate strategic priorities into clear delivery plans, driving execution while proactively managing scope, capacity, dependencies, risks, and tradeoffs.
• Work directly with engineering teams to identify constraints and develop practical alternatives—across scope, sequencing, technical approach, staffing, and partner capacity—to keep work moving and improve velocity.
• Coordinate across Product, Engineering, QA, Architecture, Data, Salesforce, Security, Infrastructure, and other IT partners to drive outcomes and resolve issues.
• Lead execution across a mix of internal teams, external vendors, and partners, and resources working across multiple time zones.
• Provide leadership with clear visibility into portfolio health, priorities, risks, decisions, and options.
• Continuously improve how the team delivers, adding structure where it creates value without introducing unnecessary process.

Bringing technical depth to delivery
• Bring sufficient technical depth to oversee software development efforts, engage credibly with developers and architects, and understand the implications of technical decisions.
• Serve as a strong partner to Engineering and Solution Architecture, asking informed questions, constructively challenging assumptions, and helping teams identify practical paths forward when delivery is constrained.
• Apply a strong understanding of the software development lifecycle, cloud architecture, APIs, and integrations, and modern application development to identify gaps, dependencies, and risks early.
• Operate effectively across a diverse technology environment that includes AWS and Azure, GitHub, and CI/CD, React, APIs and integrations, Salesforce, and mobile technologies such as Firebase and Flutter.
• Connect technical decisions to delivery and business outcomes, helping teams make pragmatic tradeoffs among speed, scalability, maintainability, and business value.

Building a high-performing team with a great culture
• Lead with high standards and low ego, creating an environment where people are encouraged to challenge assumptions, raise risks, and take ownership.
• Coach and develop team members while fostering strong relationships, open communication, trust, and shared accountability.
• Bring energy, curiosity, and a willingness to roll up your sleeves while helping preserve and strengthen what makes the Digital Technologies team special.

What you'll need:

• 7+ years of experience leading technology delivery, engineering execution, technical program management, digital transformation, or complex customer-facing digital initiatives, including oversight of multiple concurrent software development efforts
• A track record of turning strategy into execution, identifying delivery constraints, and developing credible options across scope, sequencing, technical approach, staffing, and partner capacity to keep work moving
• Strong knowledge of modern software development and the SDLC, with the technical depth to engage credibly with developers and architects, understand tradeoffs, and constructively challenge technical approaches
• Strong experience with AWS and modern cloud architecture, with familiarity across technologies such as Azure, GitHub, React, APIs and integrations, Firebase, Flutter/mobile, Salesforce, CI/CD, and identity and access management. Relevant technical certifications, such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, are a plus
• Experience driving execution across internal teams, external vendors or development partners, and resources distributed across multiple time zones
• A genuine passion for digital technology and creating great customer experiences paired with strong business and digital acumen
• Curiosity to stay current on insurance technology, digital experience trends, and emerging technologies to identify opportunities for PURE
• Strong leadership, communication, and influencing skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity, build alignment, and develop high-performing teams. Insurance or financial services experience is a plus
