JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Head Cook, the employee is responsible for cooking breakfast, baking, cleaning, and assisting the Head Cook in the kitchen area. Housekeeping duties for this position include day-to-day cleaning of living quarters, restrooms, and offices.
This position’s duties consist of about 75% housekeeping and 25% cooking.
This position works a rotational schedule (2 weeks on/2 weeks off) and 12-hour shifts in a remote camp on the North Slope. Flights from Anchorage to the job site (and back) will be paid for by the company. Meals and lodging are covered at the job site. Point of hire: Anchorage, AK.
JOB DUTIES
- Clean and sanitize assigned living quarters, offices, restrooms, shower facilities, laundry areas, hallways, and common spaces.
- Perform routine housekeeping tasks including dusting, vacuuming, mopping, sweeping, disinfecting, waste removal, and restocking supplies.
- Prepare and cook breakfast meals and baked goods for approximately 20-30 residents.
- Assist the Head Cook with food preparation, meal service, and kitchen operations as assigned.
- Follow standardized recipes, production sheets, portion controls, and food safety requirements.
- Monitor and document food temperatures and take corrective action when required.
- Maintain HACCP and sanitation standards during food preparation, storage, and service.
- Prepare salads, snacks, nourishments, and other menu items according to established guidelines.
- Set up and replenish serving lines, salad bars, and dining areas.
- Transport and stage food safely for meal service.
- Assist with inventory, receiving, storage, and stock rotation activities as assigned.
- Support dishwashing, kitchen sanitation, and cleaning activities.
- Deliver professional and courteous customer service to residents, guests, clients, and coworkers.
- Promote a positive team environment through cooperation, communication, and accountability.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Current Alaska Food Worker Card or ability to obtain prior to hire.
- Minimum six (6) months of experience in housekeeping, food service, commercial kitchen operations, or a related environment.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to perform job duties safely and effectively.
- Willingness and ability to live and work a remote camp setting for the duration of assigned rotations and to share housing/room per
- established procedures.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a remote camp environment.
- Reliable access to a smartphone capable of supporting company-required applications for scheduling, timekeeping, communications, and other work-related functions.
- Successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen, background check, and fit-for-duty evaluation.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous experience working in remote camps, oilfield facilities, mining camps, or other industrial environments.
- Training or experience in HACCP, food safety, sanitation, infection prevention, or foodborne illness prevention
- Alaska North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) certification.
- Experience supporting hospitality, catering, institutional food service, or residential housekeeping operations.
- Experience serving diverse customer populations in a team-oriented environment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND EXPECTATIONS
- Work is performed in a commercial kitchen within a remote camp
- Ability to remain on your feet for long shifts and perform repetitive physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Willingness to work day or night shift.
- Must be comfortable living and working in a remote location with shared housing accommodations and communal facilities.
