Asset Protection Investigator

Job Summary

We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Asset Protection Investigator to join our dynamic auto parts team. The Asset Protection Investigator is responsible for identifying, investigating, and resolving cases of theft, fraud, and other forms of dishonesty that impact the organization. This role focuses on protecting company assets by conducting thorough investigations, gathering evidence, and preparing detailed case packets for internal review or legal action. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical, investigative, and communication skills to effectively mitigate risks and ensure compliance with company policies and applicable laws.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyze transactional, operational, and inventory data to identify patterns indicative of theft, fraud, or other suspicious activity.
  • Utilize surveillance systems, exception-based reporting tools, and other investigative resources to detect internal and external theft.
  • Collaborate with store management, Asset Protection teams, and other departments to identify vulnerabilities and recommend preventive measures.
  • Conduct thorough investigations into incidents of theft, fraud, policy violations, and other asset protection concerns.
  • Document findings, gather evidence, and maintain detailed and accurate records of all investigative activities.
  • Ensure all investigations are conducted in compliance with company policies, legal requirements, and confidentiality standards.
  • Prepare comprehensive investigative case packets, including evidence, witness statements, reports, and other supporting documentation.
  • Ensure case packets are clear, accurate, and complete for internal review or legal proceedings.
  • Present findings to management, legal teams, or law enforcement as required.
  • Maintain organized records of all investigations for future reference and compliance purposes.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to address asset protection concerns and implement corrective actions.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of asset protection policies, procedures, and best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Business Administration, Compliance, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in Asset Protection, Loss Prevention, or investigative roles.
  • Strong knowledge of theft and fraud detection techniques, investigative processes, and evidence collection.
  • Familiarity with surveillance systems, exception reporting tools, and other investigative technologies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare detailed reports and case documentation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Knowledge of legal standards and procedures related to investigations, evidence handling, and interviews.
  • Certification in Loss Prevention (e.g., LPQ, LPC) or related credentials preferred.
  • Experience working with retail or corporate asset protection teams.

Physical Demands / Working Environment

  • Ability to travel to multiple locations as needed for investigations.
  • Flexible schedule, including availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, and conduct surveillance for extended periods.

We offer a competitive salary range of $85,000 for this position. Please note that total compensation may vary based on individual skills, experience, and qualifications.
