Job description

Omniscient is an organic growth agency that builds revenue-focused organic growth systems for B2B software companies — optimized for both search engines and generative AI.

We pride ourselves on being lean, agile, and experimental. Our team thrives on R&D and innovation, always exploring the smartest ways to deliver exceptional results. We believe in a culture of building and shipping — whether it’s client deliverables, new services, or internal tools that keep us ahead of the game.

If you’re looking for a role where you’ll tackle challenging problems, work with ambitious brands, and help shape the future of organic growth, let’s talk.

Learn about the principles that drive how we work and build a company.

About this role
Omniscient Digital is growing, and we're looking for a freelance Japanese-speaking Growth Strategist to support our organic growth initiatives in Japanese-language markets. This is a freelance role focused on keyword research, content brief development, and visibility in AI search (GEO/AEO) for B2B SaaS clients.

You must be fully fluent in Japanese and able to conduct keyword research, analyze SERPs/prompts, and produce detailed content briefs that reflect native-level understanding of search intent and language nuance.

Please note: We do not work with strategists who subcontract their work.

What you'll do

  • Conduct keyword research for Japanese-language markets, identifying high-intent opportunities aligned with client business goals.

  • Analyze Japanese SERPs (Google and Yahoo! JAPAN) and to understand the competitive landscape, content gaps, and ranking factors.

  • Research how Japanese-language prompts surface brands in AI search, including Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini, and identify where clients are cited, missing, or misrepresented.

  • Develop detailed content briefs that guide writers on structure, intent, keyword usage, and differentiation.

  • Build briefs that make content easy for AI systems to extract and cite: clear answers to the questions buyers ask, well-structured comparisons, and specific, verifiable claims.

  • Collaborate with account leads to ensure keyword strategies align with broader client objectives.

  • Apply SEO best practices while accounting for Japanese search behavior and linguistic nuance, including variation across kanji, katakana, and romanized terms.

  • Meet deadlines (typically 48–72 hours per deliverable) while maintaining high standards.

  • Communicate proactively on workload, blockers, and capacity.

Who you are

  • Fluent in Japanese (native or near-native), with strong understanding of how Japanese buyers search and consume B2B content.

  • 2+ years of experience in SEO, keyword research, or content strategy—ideally for B2B or SaaS audiences.

  • Comfortable with keyword research tools (Ahrefs or similar).

  • You understand search intent and can translate keyword data into actionable briefs.

  • Familiar with how AI search engines select and cite sources, or keen to learn fast. Experience testing Japanese prompts across LLMs is a strong plus.

  • Detail-oriented and reliable—you hit deadlines and flag issues early.

  • Self-directed and comfortable working remotely with async communication.

Portfolio Requirement
Please submit 2–3 examples of keyword research deliverables, content briefs, or AI search visibility work you've created. Japanese-language samples preferred. English samples are acceptable if you can demonstrate Japanese market fluency.

Compensation
Our rate for this work is $35 USD per hour (or per-deliverable pricing available depending on scope).
