Job description

Job Title: Test Engineer II

Location: Remote - DHS CISA Office of Bombing Prevention; approved work location within the 50 United States or the District of Columbia.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday; 

Security Requirements: Must successfully complete the required DHS/CISA background investigation, obtain and maintain a favorable DHS suitability/fitness determination (Public Trust), and maintain required system access.

Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the United States and meet DHS/CISA personnel and system access requirements.

AttainX is seeking a Test Engineer II to evaluate the technical performance, operational effectiveness, security, and suitability of OBP’s modernized information-sharing platform. This position develops testing criteria and produces evidence supporting Government acceptance.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Two (2) to four (4) years of related software testing, test engineering, or quality assurance experience.
  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Experience developing test plans, cases, scripts, acceptance criteria, and requirements traceability for web applications and cloud-hosted systems.
  • Experience performing functional, integration, regression, and operational testing, documenting defects, and verifying corrective actions.
  • Familiarity with test automation, API testing, CI/CD workflows, and validation of security and data integrity requirements.
  • Ability to communicate test findings and recommendations; familiarity with Federal developmental and operational test processes is preferred.
  • ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level (CTFL) certification is highly preferred.
  • Must be a US Citizen with ability to satisfy required Government background investigation, system access, nondisclosure, and sensitive-information protection requirements.

Job Duties:

  • Develop testing criteria from operational requirements and Key Performance Parameters to verify technical performance and operational suitability.
  • Prepare test plans and scripts covering system integrity, security, user requirements, and lifecycle testing objectives.
  • Conduct Developmental Testing and Operational Testing in accordance with applicable DHS testing guidance, including Instruction Guide 026-06-001-01.
  • Execute functional, integration, regression, and acceptance tests for modernized interfaces, cloud services, and enterprise integrations.
  • Validate cybersecurity requirements using applicable DHS Procedures for Operational Test and Evaluation of Cybersecurity.
  • Verify data migration results, data-quality checks, authentication compatibility, and controlled user access and upload functions.
  • Develop and maintain repeatable test scripts and automation where appropriate; coordinate testing with development and deployment workflows.
  • Record defects, retain supporting evidence, coordinate corrective actions, and retest fixes with developers and platform teams.
  • Report test conclusions, risks, and recommendations supporting Government acceptance and release decisions.
  • Maintain version-controlled test artifacts and participate in design reviews, implementation planning, and quality assurance activities.

Work Environment:

Work is performed remotely from an approved personal residence or corporate telecommuting site within the 50 United States or the District of Columbia. The workspace must provide reliable connectivity and protect sensitive Government information and Government-furnished equipment. Work hours are generally between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday through Friday, excluding federal holidays, with an eight-hour workday and required availability from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Occasional work outside normal hours, including weekends and holidays, may be required for critical issues, emergency response, or approved changes. Office noise is generally moderate. Remote work remains subject to Government approval and access requirements.
