Job description

The Data Integration Specialist owns the full data ingestion lifecycle, from onboarding new customers onto SOCi's data ingestion platform through ongoing monitoring and management of data flows across both API and SFTP channels. This includes understanding complex configurations and data setups, transforming data into standardized formats, and taking ownership of each account from initial onboarding through the entire ingestion lifecycle, ranging from straightforward items to complex, multi-faceted problem solving.

The ideal candidate possesses strong customer-facing communication skills, with the ability to represent SOCi effectively within a customer's environment, and to drive discussions across a range of stakeholders, from developers and analysts to management and senior leadership, both externally and within SOCi, regarding tasks, projects, cases, best practices, and prioritization of both technical work and product initiatives. Success in this role requires sufficient technical aptitude to manage difficult or complex customer situations, strong communication skills to provide clear guidance toward positive resolutions, and a high degree of competency in identifying problems and ensuring appropriate Product or Engineering teams are notified to resolve issues impeding the ingestion process. End-to-end accountability, attention to detail, quality assurance, and documentation are all essential to this role.

n.a

  • Design, write, and maintain scripts and cron jobs to automate data pulls from customer APIs and SFTP sources, ensuring reliable and timely data ingestion into SOCi's platform.

  • Monitor and manage ongoing data ingestion processes, proactively identifying and debug issues, system bottlenecks and long term structural fixes to ensure data flows are operating accurately and efficiently.

  • Lead API implementation projects for enterprise clients and third-party agencies (e.g., coordinating automation integration requests from external marketing agencies, validating, and monitoring their data pipelines across API and SFTP channels.)

  • Engage directly with customers to gather data requirements, translate business needs into technical configurations, and provide clear guidance throughout the data ingestion lifecycle.

  • Investigate and resolve data quality issues in the location database, including missing address components, zip codes, categories, images, and URLs.

  • Diagnose the downstream effects of bulk database uploads on listing status and data integrity.

  • Provision and manage API keys for client accounts.

  • Troubleshoot API-related technical defects, including payload mismatches between production and sandbox environments, failed or missing webhook event deliveries, and malformed API response data

  • Own SSO/SAML implementation and rollout for new and existing enterprise clients, across both web and mobile app login. Diagnose SAML authentication failures, such as invalid SAML response and "SAML not enabled" errors.

  • Maintain and support SSO configurations for enterprise clients, including certificate renewals, coordination of SOC2 Type II documentation for security reviews, migrations to new or multiple identity providers, bulk email-domain updates, and resolution of day-to-day login issues (expired tokens, disabled SSO options, shared-account access)

  • Leverage Claude, ChatGPT, or other AI engines to streamline troubleshooting, accelerate data debugging, automate repetitive ingestion tasks, and improve overall support efficiency.

  • 3+ years of experience as a technical support engineer/application support specialist or programmer.

  • Experience writing scripts in Python, Bash, JavaScript or similar languages to automate data pulls from customer APIs and SFTP sources, with the ability to build, test, and maintain them in a production environment.

  • Solid working knowledge of REST APIs, API key management, webhooks, and debugging data across sandbox and production environments. Have working web stack knowledge including HTTP, browser console, and JavaScript.

  • Strong experience with structured data files and file transfer protocols such as SFTP/FTP.

  • Proven knowledge of SSO/SAML authentication flows, including certificate renewal and troubleshooting SAML error codes across web and mobile clients.

  • Experience designing and managing cron jobs or similar task scheduling tools to automate and monitor recurring data ingestion processes, ensuring reliable and timely execution.

  • Knowledge of and/or experience in:

    • Calling RESTful APIs

    • SQL Joins

    • Cloud computing (especially navigating and reading logs)

    • Basic testing principles as well as basic software engineering principles

  • Familiarity with API authentication methods including OAuth, API keys, webhooks, and token-based authentication, with the ability to troubleshoot and configure them within a customer integration environment.

  • Have a solid understanding of Application Programming Interfaces and how they are deployed and used in a customer environment. Become knowledgeable in SOCi's APIs and how to implement and support them in a production environment.

  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal are an ABSOLUTE must,  for both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Comfort working directly with enterprise clients and their external agencies on technical implementation projects.

  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with keen attention to detail

  • The ability to self-direct as circumstances change and priorities shift, based on organizational needs, without the need for constant management

  • Respect processes but be adaptable to change

  • Coachable, open to feedback, and dedicated to constant self-improvement

  • Prior experience with ticketing systems (such as Zendesk), basic SQL or database concepts, and identity provider platforms is beneficial.

  • Proven ability to manage a sizable number of service delivery projects with keen prioritization and multitasking abilities

  • Education: B.S. in Computer Science or other degree with appropriate work experience
