Job description

Turn accurate numbers into confident decisions. We’re looking for a detail-driven Tax Accountant who can transform complex records into clear, compliant financial outcomes. If you take pride in precise working papers, thoughtful analysis, and delivering dependable work on time, you’ll fit right in.

Work Setup: Remote - Work From Home

Role Overview

As our Tax Accountant, you’ll prepare working papers, financial statements, and Australian tax compliance reports while supporting the onshore team across a varied client portfolio. You’ll handle core compliance work independently, keep every file accurate and current, and assist with more advanced assignments from the Accounting Manager or Service Delivery Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build Accurate Working Papers: Review general ledger balances, reports, and transactions; prepare working papers to client and regulatory standards; and process any required tax-allocation adjustments.

  • Close the Year with Confidence: Review year-end accruals, gather supporting information and confirmations, prepare financial statement job notes, and ensure working papers reflect the final accounts.

  • Deliver Complete Financial Statements: Generate full financial statement sets for clients, including trust distribution and dividend statements when applicable.

  • Prepare Australian Tax Returns: Draft returns in client-specified software, complete tax reconciliations and provisions, claim appropriate deductions and offsets, and resolve validation errors before submission.

  • Keep Compliance on Track: Complete the onshore team’s tax compliance checklist and prepare and lodge monthly, quarterly, or annual IAS and BAS activity statements.

  • Own the Workflow: Manage assigned jobs against client deadlines, maintain daily timesheets in the required application, and work within allocated budget hours.

  • Raise the Right Questions: Proactively flag issues, gaps, and practical suggestions in client records so working papers can be completed promptly and accurately.

  • Stay Technically Current: Build knowledge through assigned work, self-study, courses, technical updates, and changes in accounting software.

  • Support the Wider Team: Complete other client-management tasks assigned by the Team Manager or Service Delivery Manager.

Skills & Experience

  • A degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; a CPA licence is preferred but not required.

  • 4+ years of experience in Australian accounting and taxation, ideally within an Australian accounting firm.

  • Strong knowledge of Australian taxation, compliance requirements, client accounts, and business operations.

  • Confident using Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Hands-on experience with accounting platforms such as Xero, XPM, MYOB, and QuickBooks, with the ability to learn new systems quickly.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to raise clear, timely queries.

  • A strong commitment to quality, accuracy, and delivering work independently within hammerjack and client guidelines.

  • Excellent time management, with the discipline to meet deadlines and complete work within assigned budget hours.

What’s in It for You

  • Flexibility that Fits: Hybrid options across Makati and Pampanga, on day shifts aligned with our Australian clients.

  • Workspaces that Work: Modern offices built for focus, collaboration, and real productivity.

  • Coffee and Good Company: Barista coffee on demand and a café bar to unwind after work.
