About Semble
At Semble, we are on a mission to enable health professionals to amplify their impact. We improve the way healthcare is delivered to millions of people by providing doctors and their teams with powerful, innovative, intuitive and secure software. Our cloud-based clinical system is already used by thousands of clinicians, making their lives easier and saving them money, while structuring their health data to help research.

We are a passionate and driven team, proud to unite under strong cultural drivers:
•    Impact: We do work that matters.
•    Collaboration: We are in it together.
•    Human touch: We care deeply.

We are also quick to embrace new technologies. We have rapidly adopted AI internally, and we are always looking to work with people who are excited to augment their work with AI.
This role can be carried out remotely, with a few days per month in our London or Paris office. We are unfortunately not able to consider candidates located outside the UK or France at this stage.

What you will be doing
The Financial Controller will be responsible for the accuracy, integrity and timeliness of Semble’s financial reporting across our UK and French entities. You will oversee the month-end close, strengthen financial processes and controls, with a keen understanding of where AI can be effectively deployed, and support the continued development of a scalable Finance function.

You will:

• Own, develop and manage a financial operation that is robust, reliable and audit-ready, capable of producing high integrity output, month in and month out. This needs to continually evolve with technology available to us, and with the needs of a high-growth business.
• Lead and own the monthly close, including the relevant processes, to deliver accurate, timely management accounts, investor reporting, and a suitable internal control environment for a Series C + company.
• Responsible for day-to-day treasury activities and appropriate controls.
• Lead on a wide range of compliance activities in the UK and France, such as statutory accounts and audits, VAT and other taxes, and other company secretarial duties, working with external auditors and advisers in an international context across both UK and France entities.
• Identify opportunities to automate and simplify Finance processes, including through scalable, AI-enabled tools and workflows. Key areas are revenue, billing, deferred revenue and other SaaS-related activity, as well as thorough oversight of AR and AP.
• Assist with management of the company ESOP as well as other administrative/ CoSec duties.
• Manage, support and develop one direct report, while working closely with the CFO and FP&A to ensure core financial outputs support planning and decision-making.

What we are looking for

We are looking for an ambitious and detail-oriented finance professional, excited to own financial operations spanning the UK and French entities, who combines strong technical knowledge with a practical, collaborative approach.

You will need:

• You will be ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified with experience working as a Financial Controller, Fin Ops leader, or other similar role and reporting under UK GAAP FRS102 or IFRS.
• Proven experience in a B2B SaaS, software, technology or subscription-based business, preferably in high growth VC / PE backed company.
• A good understanding of AI and how it can be implemented for improvements and efficiencies within financial operations.
• Experience working across multiple legal entities with an understanding of consolidations.
• French language is a strong bonus, as well as knowledge of local administrative compliance and procedures in France.
• Experience handling professional external relationships with auditors and tax advisors, and handling new and complex matters.
• The ability to work accurately and independently, a love of problem-solving with a collaborative and pragmatic approach.
• Clear communication and stakeholder management skills, with enough gravitas to engage and be trusted by senior stakeholders.
• Experience with Stripe and HubSpot is not essential but nice to have.

What you’ll get in return:

• The great feeling that comes with knowing you do something that matters: shaping the future of healthcare. .
• Professional membership fees. We will reimburse your registration and annual membership fees for relevant professional bodies.
• Autonomy and ownership. We will set the vision and share the context, then trust you to run with things. That is the reason we hire you.
• 36 days off: 25 holidays, bank holidays and three additional days for your birthday and “feel good” days. We expect you to actually take them, so you can recharge and rest.
• Comprehensive health and wellbeing support, including private health insurance, mental health support and free therapy sessions through Oliva.
• A hybrid and flexible work environment. Work from anywhere in the UK, with some flexibility to work across Europe. You decide how much or how little you go to the office.
• The technology you need. You will get the latest MacBook and can choose from a wide range of equipment to set up your home office ergonomically.
• The opportunity to work alongside an inspiring team. Our two founders have started Semble following a successful startup exit, and your future colleagues are knowledgeable, passionate and innovative in their fields.
• A fantastic office space in Central London, right outside Monument, with a roof terrace, weekly activities, loads of natural light and cute doggies.
• The usual free things that come with nice offices, including barista coffee, tea, fruit, happy hours and activities.

We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and all walks of life, including people from groups that are typically underrepresented in the technology industry.
We also encourage applications from disabled and neurodiverse candidates. If there are any adjustments we can make to support you throughout the recruitment process, please do let us know.
