Spotlight Events, Inc. is an employee-owned (ESOP), a purpose-driven organization headquartered in Eagle, Idaho. For nearly three decades, our brands—Spotlight Dance Cup and LEAP National Dance Competition—have stood at the forefront of the competitive dance industry, producing approximately 90 events in 30 states and 50+ cities annually.

We are seeking entertaining Show Directors to be on-stage hosts throughout the event. The ideal candidate has a strong customer service mindset and thrives in live-event environments where composure and quick thinking are essential. Strong public speaking, outstanding organizational and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and excellent follow-through are critical.

Position Overview

The Show Director serves as the on-stage representative of Spotlight Events, presenting awards, hosting interviews, and ensuring a seamless, client-friendly environment. This role oversees the judging panel, manages event logistics related to awards and compliance, and maintains the energy and professionalism that defines the Spotlight brand.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the event’s public personality, presenting awards and conducting interviews with enthusiasm and professionalism
• Create a fun, welcoming atmosphere for dancers, clients, and attendees
• Deliver exceptional client relations, addressing questions or concerns with empathy and professionalism
• Oversee the judging panel, ensuring fairness and adherence to Spotlight Dance Cup & Leap National Dance Competition rules and procedures
• Prepare and review award reports for accuracy ahead of ceremonies
• Support overall event flow, stepping in as needed to maintain efficiency and quality

Key Qualifications & Competencies

• Prior experience as a host, emcee, or presenter for live events (Preferred)
• Outstanding public speaking and stage presence
• Knowledge of competitive dance environments or performing arts is advantageous
• Background in dance, theater, or related performing arts (Strongly Preferred)
• Experience with competitive dance judging panels (Preferred)
• Prior experience in working live events, production, or competitive dance environments (Preferred)
• Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in fast-paced environments

Work Environment & Physical Demands

Travel is required during our event season (January–July), and team members must reside within reasonable proximity to a U.S. international airport or hub to accommodate frequent travel.

On average, the role involves attending approximately 6–10 regional events each year, typically lasting 3–5 days, with the possibility of 1–2 national events lasting 6–8 days. 

Physical demands include lifting up to 50 pounds, setting up equipment, and working in a variety of environments, such as event venues, hotels, and stages. Staff members must also be comfortable sharing hotel accommodations with same-gender colleagues during event assignments.

Mock Training: All new/first year event staff are required to attend an audition and training session in Eagle, Idaho (Typically hosted January 4th–8th). Spotlight provides flights, transport, lodging, and meals. Travel may occur one day before or after the scheduled dates.
