The AI & Cloud Governance Lead role ensures that AI solutions and Cloud platforms are used safely, responsibly, securely, and in compliance with internal policies and external regulations—while still enabling innovation and business value. This role works across the organization to ensure all facets are considered.

If you are great at:

• Designing and maintain the enterprise AI governance framework, covering: Responsible/ethical AI principles Model lifecycle governance (design, development, testing, deployment, monitoring, retirement), agent monitoring, risk assessments and approval, and accountability expectations.
• Developing and maintain AI‑specific policies, standards, and guidelines, including acceptable use, transparency, explainability, and risk classification.  
• Establishing an engagement model and build controls to ensure all AI initiatives are captured and associate a risk rating with each initiative. 
• Identifying and assess AI risks such as: Bias and fairness, privacy and data misuse, security vulnerabilities, and hallucinations and model drift. 
• Maintaining an AI inventory / model register and map risks to controls. 
• Defining and track AI‑related KRIs and issues requiring remediation or escalation. 
• Monitoring evolving AI regulations and standards (e.g., OSFI Guidelines (E-23), NIST and CIS v8) 
• Ensuring AI use cases and vendors align with legal, regulatory, and contractual obligations .
• Supporting audit readiness for AI governance, including evidence, attestations, and documentation.  
• Act as a central coordination point across: Legal, ERM, Privacy Security, Architecture, Data Science, Engineering, Product and, Business Owners.
• Embed governance checkpoints into existing SDLC / MLOps processes rather than operating as a separate gate 
• Defining and maintain cloud governance standards for: Account/subscription management, data residency and sovereignty, encryption, logging, and monitoring key control alignment.
• Ensuring consistent implementation of guardrails across cloud environments (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS).
• Overseeing cloud control alignment with:  Security and risk frameworks (COBIT, CIS v8), business continuity and, resilience requirements.
• Partnering with cloud security teams to ensure risks are identified, documented, and treated appropriately (not bypassed for speed) .
• Supporting vendor due diligence, contract language, and ongoing risk oversight related to cloud and AI services.

If you have:

• Bachelor’s degree, Diploma or Certificate in Computer Science, Business Administration or other related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.  

• 10+ years' experience working in a technology environment.  

• Strong understanding of the evolving AI space and Cloud environment.  

• An understanding of mission critical applications and an ability to assess the risk and impact associated with change.  

• Experience in working with a cross functional team is an asset.  

• Basic knowledge of insurance, business, and technical areas; Property and Casualty Insurance experience an asset.  

• Proficient knowledge of information systems and software.

We’re committed to pay transparency and fairness. The base salary range for this role is $128,000 - $177,000, which reflects the expected base pay – not the total compensation package. The actual base salary may vary depending on your experience, skills, and alignment with the position. We’re also open to candidates at different levels, so if this range doesn’t quite match your expectations, don’t let that hold you back — we’d still love to hear from you.
