Job description

WorkWave is a leading provider of cloud-based software that supports every stage of a service business's life cycle—from lead management and CRM to scheduling, routing, field operations, and payment facilitation. Our core platforms (PestPac, RealGreen, WinTeam, and TimeGate) serve pest control, lawn and landscape, security, and commercial cleaning companies, from multi-billion-dollar enterprises to the smallest upstart seeking an edge
About the Role

At WorkWave, we treat quality as an engineering discipline, not an inspection checklist. The AI Quality Governance Engineer (QGE) combines technical automation development with high-impact quality governance:

  • Engineering: Build scalable automated systems. Write clean test code, set up CI/CD quality gates, and create AI utilities (test skeleton generators, risk-scoring models, auto-triage pipelines).

  • Governance: Define "Done" across internal and vendor teams (such as Virtusa), enforce release standards, and track metrics that reflect actual system health (Change Failure Rate, Defect Escape Rate).

  • Day-One AI Fluency: AI is integrated directly into daily work. You will use AI pair-programming tools to draft tests and automation scripts, applying engineering judgment to ensure full coverage and edge-case validation.

  • Key Responsibilities

    • Automation & CI/CD (≈40%): Write and maintain end-to-end and API automation using Playwright, UnifiedDriver, and BDD frameworks. Configure automated gates in GitHub Actions to block regressions without slowing deployment.

    • AI Tooling & Innovation (≈40%): Pair with AI assistants (Claude, GitHub Copilot) to draft test suites, design reusable prompt templates, and build internal tools like the Quality Radar risk-prediction model.

    • Governance & Standards (≈20%): Define quality gates across SDLC checkpoints, audit contractor deliverables, monitor DORA metrics, and partner with Engineering Managers during sprint planning to address testability gaps.

    • Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent (Contratto a Tempo Indeterminato)

Level / Inquadramento: Mid-Level Livello B2  (CCNL Metalmeccanico PMI Confimi agreement)

Department: Quality Engineering Center of Excellence (COE)

Reports To: Director of Quality / Functional QA Manager

Candidate Profile

Technical & AI Skills (Must Have)

  • 3+ years in software quality engineering with a focus on automation.

  • Working proficiency in at least one modern language: TypeScript/JavaScript, C#, Python, or Java (.NET/C# or TypeScript preferred).

  • Hands-on experience with modern test frameworks (Playwright, Selenium, or RestAssured for APIs).

  • Experience reading and configuring GitHub Actions YAML workflows.

  • AI-First Mindset: Daily experience using tools like Claude or GitHub Copilot to accelerate test writing, with the critical judgment to detect thin coverage or hallucinations before committing to source control.

  • Working knowledge of DORA quality metrics (Change Failure Rate, MTTR, Escape Rate).

  • Nice to Have

    • ISTQB certification (CT-AI or CT-TAE).

    • Experience establishing quality gates for offshore/outsourced technical partners.

    • Familiarity with SaaS enterprise software (e.g., field service management, ERP, scheduling).

    • Professional working proficiency in English (for global technical architecture); Italian language skills for local Verona hub collaboration.
