Job description

Bring your medical expertise where it matters most — at the front line of travel assistance. As Medical Claims Team Lead at Allianz Partners, you'll own end-to-end claims decisions for Malaysia and Singapore, act as the senior technical escalation point, and lead a small team of claims professionals to deliver outstanding outcomes for customers and partners alike. This is a full-time, hybrid role based at UOA Centre, KLCC, Kuala Lumpur

What You'll Do

Claims Leadership & Decision-Making

  • Own end-to-end travel medical claims decisions for Malaysia and Singapore using sound clinical judgment and within your claims authority limit.
  • Act as the primary technical referral point and escalation owner for complex, high-cost, or sensitive cases.
  • Coordinate cross-border assistance and provider interactions to ensure quality care and cost control.
  • Manage customer feedback, inquiries, and complaints promptly and effectively within designated timelines, providing feasible resolutions through established processes and procedures.

Performance, Quality & Strategy

  • Manage SLAs for partners and internal teams — lead the team to consistently meet or exceed agreed targets.
  • Identify priorities in the claims function to increase efficiency and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Manage claims performance and quality through OFR (Operational Functional Review) and CFR (Claims Functional Review) in collaboration with the Quality Assurance team.
  • Own and manage the Claims Operation Strategy Plan actions.
  • Be part of the Operations Senior Leadership team to drive the company's strategy.
  • Represent Allianz Partners as a Senior Operations Leader in partner relationship meetings.

People & Development

  • Coach, oversee, and support 1–2 direct reports; assist with hiring, onboarding, and training execution.
  • Execute training plans when required and participate in team projects and ad-hoc tasks as assigned.

What You'll Bring

  • Minimum Diploma or Degree in a medical-related field; candidates with a non-medical degree but relevant hands-on experience in clinical practice or medical claims are equally welcome.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in clinical practice or a medical claims department.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a team leader or supervisory role — or a senior specialist ready to take a formal leadership step.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology, diagnoses, and treatment protocols.
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills in English; Mandarin is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Decisive and calm under pressure — able to make swift, evidence-based decisions and put them into practical use.
  • Collaborative team player who treats colleagues with care and respect.
  • Legal right to work in Malaysia.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted claims processing or digital health tools is an advantage.

Nice to Have

  • Background in travel insurance, assistance operations, or related insurance settings.
  • Emergency or acute care experience.
  • Experience engaging providers across Malaysia and Singapore.

What We Offer

  • Hybrid working arrangement — UOA Centre, KLCC, Kuala Lumpur, with flexibility to work from home.
  • Competitive salary and performance-based bonus.
  • Medical and hospitalisation coverage for you and your dependants.
  • Annual leave in line with Malaysian employment standards, plus additional company leave.
  • A large variety of learning courses and targeted development programmes — empowering you to take control of your personal and professional growth.
  • Global career progression and international mobility opportunities within the Allianz Group.
  • Work Well programmes designed to support your health, wellbeing, and work-life balance.
