Intelligent Automation Engineer

The Intelligent Automation Engineer is a hands-on individual contributor responsible for the full lifecycle of document intelligence and AI solutions. The role discovers client needs, recommends practical approaches, configures and integrates platforms, supports production environments, and improves solution performance and supportability. The engineer works directly with clients, vendors, sales, presales, project management, delivery, and support teams. The role supports all document intelligence and AI platforms offered by the company. Current primary platforms are Info Input and PSIcapture. The technology portfolio may evolve as business and clients need change.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct presales discovery on document types, volumes, business processes, integrations, and security requirements, and translate findings into end-to-end solution designs, requirements, acceptance criteria, estimates, implementation plans, and statement of work input

• Deliver product demonstrations and proofs of concept that validate technical feasibility, business value, and fit against the client’s current and future state.
  
• Communicate options, tradeoffs, risks, dependencies, and recommendations to business and technical audiences, and recommend approaches for classification, extraction, validation, workflow automation, content governance, human review, and future-state modernization.
  
• Implement, administer, and optimize the Document Intelligence and AI platforms Marco offers, including additional or successor platforms as the portfolio evolves.
  
• Configure document classes, capture workflows, extraction profiles, recognition settings, confidence thresholds, validation rules, exception handling, routing, exports, and processing queues.
  
• Use approved optical character recognition, artificial intelligence, and generative artificial intelligence technologies to support document classification, extraction, summarization, metadata enrichment, comparison, validation, and knowledge retrieval.
  
• Build secure integrations with enterprise content management, Microsoft 365, collaboration, enterprise resource planning, customer relationship management, and database systems using approved integration methods.
  
• Extend solutions through supported scripting, interface, and reusable component options when platform configuration cannot meet the requirement, and direct substantial custom software development to appropriate specialist resources.
  
• Plan and execute upgrades, migrations, environment assessments, production cutovers, testing, parallel validation, post go-live stabilization, and transition to support.
  
• Optimize solutions for accuracy, throughput, reliability, traceability, maintainability, exception handling, security, and supportability.
  
• Apply responsible artificial intelligence, privacy, security, auditability, confidence scoring, human validation, monitoring, lifecycle management, and cost awareness to all delivered solutions.
  
• Own advanced support tickets across the full installed customer base, including unfamiliar, legacy, client-specific, and vendor-implemented environments.
  
• Resolve issues spanning capture, optical character recognition, artificial intelligence, workflow, infrastructure, authentication, data quality, performance, and integration.
  
• Perform root cause analysis, own incident and escalation management, coordinate vendor escalations, communicate status and resolution to customers, and drive prevention of recurring issues.
  
• Serve as a trusted technical advisor through discovery sessions, architecture discussions, workshops, and production readiness reviews.
  
• Provide technical guidance to sales, presales, project management, delivery, support, and vendor teams, mentor team members, and contribute to technical standards and best practices.
  
• Produce solution designs, configuration workbooks, test plans, deployment guides, support procedures, operational runbooks, knowledge articles, and client-specific configuration documentation.
  
• Deliver client and internal training and knowledge transfer, and build reusable templates, accelerators, standards, estimation tools, and delivery patterns that improve consistency and speed across engagements.
  
• Maintain current technical expertise across the supported platforms, including any required certifications, and monitor emerging tools, frameworks, and best practices.
  
• Attend required company and departmental meetings.

• Perform other related duties as assigned.
  

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Business Systems, or a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education, certifications, and hands-on technical experience.
  
• Preferred experience includes client-facing design, configuration, implementation, integration, testing, deployment, production transition, and advanced support of document capture, intelligent document processing, enterprise content management, workflow automation, or AI-enabled business solutions.
  

• Working knowledge of document classification, extraction, confidence thresholds, validation, exception handling, workflow, export, and document lifecycle management.
  
• Working knowledge of generative artificial intelligence, language models, prompt design, retrieval augmented generation, and human-in-the-loop validation.
  
• Experience with representational state transfer application programming interfaces, web services, software development kits, SQL, databases, scripting, and file exchange.
  
• Preferred: hands-on experience with Info Input or PSIcapture, or with comparable document capture and intelligent document processing platforms such as Tungsten/Kofax, Kodak Alaris, or ABBYY.
  
• Preferred: experience with M-Files or a comparable enterprise content management platform, and with Microsoft Power Platform.
  
• Preferred: experience with Azure AI Document Intelligence, Azure AI services, Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Search, private or local language models, vector databases, enterprise search, and artificial intelligence orchestration frameworks.
  
• Preferred: experience with Python, C#, JavaScript or TypeScript, PowerShell, or Java, along with source control, DevOps, release management, automated testing, monitoring, and secure configuration management.
  
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills, including root cause analysis across complex, multi-vendor, and unfamiliar client environments.
  
• Strong communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to explain technical options, tradeoffs, and risks to both business and technical audiences.
  
• Strong documentation and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent client engagements and competing priorities.
  
• Strong client-service orientation, with the ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and escalate matters requiring business direction.
