Role Overview:  

We are looking for a work-from-home (WFH) Senior Full Stack Developer (PHP & Laravel) from anywhere in the Philippines to join our team, working on new and existing web applications and APIs in the VoIP/Telco industry, as well as software for a partner company in the Food & Hospitality industry.

We are looking for a full stack developer with strong PHP (both vanilla and Laravel), MySQL, HTML, CSS and JavaScript knowledge. Experience with modern PHP and JavaScript frameworks such as Laravel, React, Vue.js or similar technologies is also highly desirable.

We actively use modern AI-assisted development tools and are looking for someone who is comfortable incorporating tools such as Cursor, Claude, ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot or similar coding assistants into their day-to-day development workflow.

You will be working alongside other experienced developers on both established systems and new applications.

What We’re Looking For:

Required Skills

• Strong English communication skills, both written and spoken.
  

• Strong PHP knowledge, including experience with both legacy PHP and modern PHP 7/8+.
  

• Experience with Laravel or another modern PHP framework.
  

• Strong MySQL knowledge, including writing efficient queries for large datasets.
  

• Strong HTML, CSS and JavaScript knowledge.
  

• Strong jQuery knowledge and experience maintaining existing jQuery-based applications.
  

• Experience with React, Vue.js or a similar modern JavaScript framework.
  

• Experience building and consuming REST APIs and integrating with third-party APIs.
  

• Experience with Git or similar version control systems.
  

• Comfortable working with Linux servers and command-line tools such as SSH/PuTTY, Git and common Linux utilities.
  

• Continuous Integration (CI) experience.
  

• Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, Claude, ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot or similar.
  

• Ability to write effective prompts and provide AI tools with the appropriate codebase context, requirements and constraints.
  

• Ability to critically review AI-generated code rather than accepting generated solutions without verification.
  

• Understanding of where AI-assisted development is useful and where manual investigation, debugging and engineering judgement are required.
  

• The ability to communicate clearly, work independently, think critically and solve problems without requiring constant direction.
  

• 8+ years of professional software development experience.
  

Portfolio Requirement

• Applicants must provide a portfolio or examples of previous development work as part of their application.
  

• This should include:
  

• Examples of web applications, APIs, portals or other software you have personally worked on.
  

• Code samples that demonstrate your PHP and JavaScript development ability.
  

• Examples of Laravel, React, Vue.js or similar framework experience, were available.
  

• GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket or other repository links where possible.
  

• For private or commercial projects where source code cannot be shared, a description of your personal contribution, the technologies used, the problems you solved and the parts of the system you were responsible for.
  

• Screenshots, live application links or demonstrations of previous projects were appropriate.
  

• Applications that do not include relevant examples of previous work and code may not be considered.
  

Highly Regarded

• Experience using Cursor Agent, Claude Code or similar agentic coding tools on real software projects.
  

• Experience using AI tools to assist with legacy code migrations and refactoring.
  

• Experience using AI to generate or improve automated tests.
  

• Experience with AI-assisted code review, debugging and technical documentation.
  

• Experience configuring project rules, instructions or context files for AI coding tools.
  

• Experience working with MCP servers, coding agents or other AI development integrations.
  

What You’ll Be Working On:

• As this is a full-stack position, you must be comfortable creating front-end HTML, CSS and JavaScript as well as high-quality back-end PHP code.
  

• Our existing codebase is primarily written in vanilla PHP, so you must be comfortable working without a framework.
  

• We are progressively modernizing our applications, including developing newer applications using Laravel and modern front-end technologies such as React, Vue.js or similar frameworks.
  

• We are gradually migrating legacy code from PHP 5.4 to PHP 8+, so you must be comfortable maintaining older PHP code while also writing modern PHP.
  

• Developing with PHP on a day-to-day basis.
  

• Approximately 50/50 split between back-end and front-end development.
  

• JavaScript development using jQuery, vanilla JavaScript and modern JavaScript frameworks were appropriate.
  

• Developing and maintaining applications using Laravel or similar PHP frameworks.
  

• Developing front-end applications and components using React, Vue.js or similar JavaScript frameworks.
  

• Writing efficient MySQL queries and working with large datasets.
  

• Supporting and developing existing and new PHP APIs for customers and resellers.
  

• Developing integrations with external APIs and third-party services.
  

• Contributing to customer-facing websites and account portals.
  

• Updating and improving administration portals used by staff to manage clients, services and support tickets.
  

• Developing new features across administration, reseller and customer portals.
  

• Developing and maintaining point-of-sale software for a partner company in the Food & Hospitality industry.
  

• Developing payment integrations and other third-party integrations.
  

• Using AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, Claude, ChatGPT and similar tools to assist with development, debugging, refactoring, testing and documentation.
  

• Using AI coding agents effectively while reviewing and validating generated code before it is merged or deployed.
  

• Using AI to understand unfamiliar areas of existing codebases, investigate bugs and accelerate development without sacrificing code quality.
  

• Liaising with team members and customers.
  

• Investigating and fixing bugs when they arise.
