Job description

Junior Full-Stack Developer

Full-Time | $7 USD/hour
Remote | Philippines or Indonesia

About the Role

We are looking for a smart, resourceful junior full-stack developer who wants the opportunity to grow into a major engineering role.

This position is designed for someone early in their career who already understands the fundamentals of web development but has the potential to become much more. You do not need to know everything yet. We care more about your problem-solving ability, technical curiosity, communication skills, and willingness to learn.

You will work across our SaaS platform—building features, fixing bugs, improving user workflows, and testing your own work. Initially, you will receive smaller, clearly defined assignments. As your skills and understanding of the product grow, you will be given greater responsibility and more complex projects.

We are looking for someone who wants to grow with the company—not someone looking for a short-term freelance project.

Responsibilities

Full-Stack Development
  • Build and improve frontend and backend features.
  • Fix bugs throughout the application.
  • Create and update user interfaces, forms, validation rules, and workflows.
  • Work with APIs, databases, and third-party integrations.
  • Read and understand an existing codebase.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-organized code.
  • Use Git to manage code changes and collaborate with the engineering team.
  • Participate in code reviews and apply feedback from senior developers.
  • Assist with deployments and post-deployment verification.
Testing and Product Quality
  • Test your own work thoroughly before submitting it for review.
  • Reproduce and investigate customer-reported issues.
  • Identify edge cases and unexpected user behavior.
  • Write clear bug reports with reproduction steps, screenshots, or videos.
  • Perform regression testing to ensure changes do not break existing features.
  • Recommend improvements to usability, performance, and reliability.

Requirements

  • You must be able to independently read, understand, and evaluate code.
Do not apply if you rely on Claude to generate code that you cannot explain, debug, or verify yourself.**
  • Basic full-stack web development experience.
  • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Git.
  • Familiarity with frontend frameworks such as React.
  • Basic understanding of backend development, APIs, and databases.
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems using browser developer tools and logs.
  • Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
  • Ability to explain your thinking clearly and ask good questions.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to test your own work.
  • Ability to work independently and manage assigned tasks.
  • Willingness to work overnight locally during U.S. business hours.
  • Reliable computer and internet connection.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with React, Next.js, and TypeScript.
  • Experience building personal, school, freelance, or professional web applications.
  • Experience working with REST APIs and relational databases.
  • Familiarity with SaaS applications and subscription-based products.
  • Experience with Asana or similar project-management tools.
  • A GitHub profile, portfolio, or working application that demonstrates your abilities.
  • Previous experience working with a remote international team.

Professional experience is helpful, but it is not required if you can demonstrate strong technical ability through projects or practical work.

What We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate:

  • Learns quickly and actively searches for solutions.
  • Can take a problem from investigation through implementation and testing.
  • Is comfortable admitting when they do not know something.
  • Accepts feedback without becoming defensive.
  • Pays attention to how the entire product works—not only the assigned ticket.
  • Looks for underlying causes instead of applying temporary fixes.
  • Shows the potential to take ownership of larger systems over time.
  • Wants to become a highly capable full-stack engineer.

What Success Looks Like

  • Assigned features and fixes are completed accurately and on time.
  • Code is tested before being submitted for review.
  • Questions are thoughtful, specific, and asked early.
  • Mistakes are learned from and are not repeatedly made.
  • Knowledge of the platform grows steadily.
  • The developer progresses from smaller assignments to independently owning features.
  • Responsibility and compensation can increase as technical ability and contribution grow.
