About Nebius Academy and Nebius Science 

Nebius Academy is Nebius’s education and research initiative. It offers advanced programs in machine learning and generative AI, supports academic research through cloud grants, and works with universities and research institutions around the world.

Nebius Science is the research media lab within Nebius Academy. We cover AI research, AI-driven science, and the people and ideas shaping both fields.

Since launching in 2026, Nebius Science has highlighted the work of our researchers, covered major AI conferences and emerging research trends, and developed joint editorial projects with recipients of Nebius research grants.

Our work spans original features, technical explainers, weekly Paper Picks, research webinars, the Nebius Science Paper Club, and interviews with leading researchers.

Our goal is to make serious research accessible without flattening its complexity, and to create a meeting point for researchers, engineers, and the wider scientific community.

The role

Nebius Science is looking for an AI Science Writer based in the EU. This is an ongoing contract role with a fixed monthly retainer and opportunities for growth, including the potential to transition to a full-time position at Nebius.

You may be an AI/ML researcher or engineer who moved into journalism, a computer science graduate with substantial editorial experience, or a technical writer who has worked directly with research teams. Whatever your path, you should be able to read a technical paper, understand the underlying method, assess its limitations, and turn it into a clear and compelling story.

A central part of the role will be producing weekly reviews of new AI models, architectures, and in-house research. You should be able to identify what is genuinely new and explain how it works creatively across a range of formats.

These reviews can be visual as well as written. You will be expected to develop clear, engaging infographics, diagrams, charts, and other multimedia elements, creating them yourself by using AI tools where appropriate or working with designers and multimedia producers.

Your responsibilities will include: 

• Produce scientific and technical reviews of new AI models, architectures, papers, in-house research and trends.
• Turn model architectures and complex technical ideas into clear visual narratives by developing infographics, diagrams, charts, and other multimedia components for your stories.
• Interview researchers, engineers, founders, and scientific leaders.
• Cover major research conferences, emerging fields, and important debates across the AI ecosystem.
• Write and edit across formats, including analytical reports, features, interviews, explainers, newsletters, webinar scripts, and social content.
• Host or moderate research webinars, interviews, and other on-camera formats.
• Work with researchers to verify technical claims while preserving a clear editorial voice.
• Collaborate with designers and multimedia producers on more complex visual stories.
• Experiment with models, agents, coding, and automation to improve research, editorial, and visual-production workflows.

We expect you to have: 

• Have professional or academic experience in AI/ML research, machine learning engineering, or a closely related technical field.
• Have a degree in computer science, machine learning, mathematics, physics, engineering, computational science, or another relevant technical discipline.
• Be comfortable reading papers, inspecting model architectures, comparing results, and discussing technical details directly with researchers.
• Have strong visual instincts and be able to explain technical mechanisms through diagrams, infographics, charts, or other multimedia formats.
• Write with precision and flair, using LLMs to support your work, not to do the writing for you.
