Senior Family Law Attorney - First Chair Required

Pay: $100,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year

Location: Leesburg, VA. Hybrid opportunity with flexible hours and partial remote work available. This position requires regular in-person court appearances in Virginia and is not fully remote.

Note: Candidates must be active members of the Virginia Bar with 4+ years of family law litigation experience and demonstrated first-chair trial experience. Candidates must be available for in-person court appearances in Virginia.

Job Description

• Manage a full portfolio of family law matters from initial strategy through resolution.
• Serve as first-chair counsel in contested family law proceedings and trials.
• Represent clients in Virginia Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court and Circuit Court.
• Draft pleadings, motions, agreements, settlement documents, discovery, and other litigation materials.
• Prepare clients and matters for hearings, negotiations, mediation, and trial.
• Develop case strategy and provide practical, responsive counsel throughout each matter.
• Conduct negotiations and pursue favorable settlements when appropriate while remaining prepared to litigate.
• Maintain direct client relationships and ensure cases move forward efficiently and strategically.

Qualifications

• Active Virginia Bar license required.
• 4+ years of directly relevant family law litigation experience required.
• Demonstrated first-chair family law trial experience required.
• Experience handling Virginia family law matters from start to finish.
• Strong legal writing, courtroom advocacy, negotiation, and client-management skills.
• Ability to appear in person for Virginia court proceedings.
• Portable book of business strongly preferred.
• Solo or in-house backgrounds may be considered only with substantial Virginia family law trial experience.
