Job description

Account Director - US 

We are seeking an experienced Account Director to join our growing team.

If you enjoy directing, managing and delivering Global and US accounts across both medical communications and publications, then we have a great opportunity for you.

In this position, you will work remotely with colleagues delivering high-quality solutions for our US-based pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients while helping to drive client satisfaction, business growth and account success. 

In addition to the permanent opportunity, we are also looking to appoint a freelance Account Director to support our growing team.

The Role

As an Account Director you will be responsible for managing client business and relationships, as well as managing a multi-skilled team to deliver account business.  

The successful candidate will have exceptional problem-solving, project management and leadership skills. Strong face-to-face and written communication skills, together with a proven ability to develop lasting client relationships and drive business growth, are essential. The successful candidate should be prepared to work in a fast-paced, creative environment with occasional opportunities for travel.

Key Responsibilities

As an Account Director, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Build and maintain beneficial client relationships to ensure goals and strategic objectives are met. Working closely with your clients to understand their needs and translate these into opportunities for the development of high-quality medical communication solutions. 
  • Proactively driving projects forward and seeing them through to completion in a timely manner. Working closely with internal teams at Porterhouse Medical to manage priorities and ensure that solutions are delivered to the highest standard and reviewing deliverables prior to delivery to ensure they meet client objectives with the highest quality standards 
  • Proactively managing project scope and budgets to ensure that any issues are communicated to clients and that project profitability is maintained 
  • Developing an understanding of new therapy areas quickly and comprehensively, inspiring confidence with clients 
  • Identifying opportunities for new business within existing accounts, driving to exceed organic growth targets 
  • Leading new business initiatives, including attendance and presentation at pitch meetings  
  • Training and developing a team, including line management and conduction of performance reviews and
    appraisals

We are looking for highly motivated life sciences professionals to help us maintain our reputation as a leading medical communications agency delivering scientific programmes of the highest quality.

Specifically, we are looking for individuals with the following skills, attributes and qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree (BSc preferred) and a strong academic record 
  • At least 3–4 years of experience in a senior account management role in a medical communications agency or pharmaceutical company  
  • A proven track record of client and account management and delivery of organic growth and new business 
  • Experience of managing and developing a team, and proven leadership and influencing skills in a multidisciplinary environment  
  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills, and excellent attention to detail

Compensation: $140,000 - 175,000
